Have you ever tried Bacardi Breezers?

Trust me on this: after 3-4 of them, you could give one s*** if it's abnormally cool for July

Could the heat have had something to do with you?
or were you referring to a special type of ball?;)

My corner of metrowest Boston wasn't bad yesterday - just over 80. I think the shocker was that we finally had a day close to normal. Then again, the humidity didn't help. Ditto for today.

At this point, it has been an abnormally cool July here (about 3 F low). June was average. August will determine if the summer is cool or reverts to norm...doubt there is much chance of the average being significantly above normal for the summer.

The good news is that I've used less than 800 kwh for AC so far with summer half over. With luck I'll keep it under 2000 kwh for the season.

We don't have AC as it is seldom needed. We did, however, have to heat through some of June.

We haven't used any heat since the 2nd week of April when daily lows were in the 30's and daily averages in the 40's.

Had to run some heat through most of June. Had that week of muggy weather in early July when the dehumidifier in the basement, and the central A/C, got a good workout.

Then back to cool days with some heating

If I have to use the A/C a lot, along with the dehumidifier in the basement, I can expect to use around 900 kwh for the month. Otherwise, 400-500 kwh is the norm for me

well its 12:45 PM, its 84.6º and the hottest part of the day at this time of year is around 4:30 to 5 PM. the average summer high for this time of year is 79°

so its apparent that the summer heat that was supposed to be in the midwest and northeast has taken a detour thru my neighborhood and i am NOT appreciative of that fact

I've used the A/C quite a bit in my Semi. I can't stand going down the highway with a window down and that air hitting my ear. Too many go deaf because of that.

Here is a graphic of world temperature anomalies for June 2009. It looks like the central United States had a relatively cool June this, year, but much of the rest of the world was warmer than the average.

wow, on that graph its say my area is only 2º C warmer... must be because of the winter we had which was about 10 º colder than normal....with 3 feet of snow over the average to boot

The advantage to the A/C used in semi trucks, at least the Kenworth T2000 and T600's a neighbor of mine runs, is that the evaporator coil is *very* easy to get to and clean. They also use a very large filter on the cabin air

If you use the proper cleaning chemicals on the e-coil, the air quality is quite good

right now its 58º because of an offshore flow. that will end by tomorrow morning. it will be gradually increasing in temperatures to 20 degrees above normal by the middle of next week.

at the same time, the southeastern part of the country will be 30 degrees below normal. since 20 is not as much as 30 that means that yes... its been a cool summer...

at least, that is what i will be telling myself next week when its pushing 100º

    **edit**

just saw news. weather has become a big deal here. expected temps in 90's 4 consecutive days (has happened 5 times in last 70 years) bookend days of Saturday and Thurs, temps expected to be in upper 80's... 5 days would be a record.

give an idea of how "hot" it is here.... its been 3 years since we had 3 consecutive days in the 90's...

Right now 103/104 during the day right at average for July. At least we got rain this July. We have gone 10 months without any rain...last year.
August and September are the hot months tho so we'll have to see what happens then...
    Regards

    Here is July:

Again we have the same departure pattern as June of 2009. The Earth overall was quite hot in July, 2nd or 5th hottest July on record depending on source. However, much of the U.S. was colder than normal, with several states hitting all time record lows, and several narrowly missing them.

Global ocean surface temperature also hit a July record, a high, eclipsing 1998.

The good news for me is my electric use is way down for the summer.

    records set this year

consecutive days 90º+F 9. old record 4 days (this is disputable. some "official" weather stations recorded an 89 º day on Friday, so it would be 5 in a row, still a record and 8 of 9 days in the 90's) as a reference, the average high temps for same time period 78.

all time high 104.5 old record 101 (day before was 103)

    highest 3 day average (103, 104.5, 98) old record (100, 98, 100)

so, ya, this summer was monumental.

Just my luck. According to that map, I happen to live in one of the areas experiencing lower than normal temps. I will admit that the cooler temps, and never ending rain, have resulted in one nice looking lawn

luck would be the most likely reason Jay. most of the warmest areas are across the northern tiers (other than Africa) which is where scientists said GCC would manifest first and strongest.

maybe after we have eliminated 90% of the polar species, namely the creatures that eat seals and the seals start eating up all the fish that WE EAT, only then will we take it personally and do something about it

Nah, I wouldn't count on it

Maybe I should start up a new company, call it Soylent Corp
