Just got off the phone with my insurance agent checking the cost of car insurance on a 2010 Prius. $340 a year full coverage. Basically the same amount I'm paying now on my 87 Volvo with no collision. She told she could get a better number with a VIN but at the moment the $340 a year is what Erie is showing my insurance will be on a new Prius.
Nope $340 a year. I pay $660 a year on both my Volvo's. The 87 has no collision and the 97 960 has full coverage for < 12K miles a year. I raised it from < 8,000 to 12,000 and they charged me an additional $25 a year for the change.
Why would you have no collision? ETA: never mind, i see you say that is full coverage. I understand why on the 87. But $349 full coverage? Wow, who do you use?
Difference is I live in Pittsburgh and you live in New Jersey. Philadelphia Insurance rates are just as bad as New Jersey's My brothers insurance rates are similar to mine and he lives a few miles outside of Concord, NH.
Once Erie Insurance got my VIN I got my new Insurance rate on the 2010 Prius. $418 a year full coverage, that is not a typo. The difference between my 87 Volvo turbo wagon with just liability and the new 2010 Prius is $202 I was paying $535 for the 87 with just liability and my 97 Volvo 960 that is driven <12K miles a year. With the new Prius and sending the 87 to the scrap yard my insurance will be $735 a year on both cars. There is no way to complain on the slight increase in cost to my auto insurance buying a new Prius.
