The original question was posted in 2008, but in response; I have no regrets. Our decision to sell our premium gas sucking 14 MPG Durango was based in part on no chance the the Durango would go up in value if we waited. We figured its value was only going down, while gas prices are likely to return to the $4.00 to $5.00 USD range. And there is a component of saving the environment.

I'm still adjusting to the difference in driver height, size, and power, but overall, I am happy with the decision. We're making a road trip to the West Coast in the Fall and I will have a much better feel after that trip.

I looked at 2010 and was disappointed with the elimination of the camera. The only way to get the camera is to buy the NAV package. According to the salesman they eliminated the camera because most consumers didn't use it, bull, the only reason for the pricing is to sell more Nav systems. Why do I need a NAV system for 1800. when I already have a portable one costing less that 400., that I can move from car to car.

I've had my Prius about 5 days and so far I love it!

I did have some pre-purchase jitters, however. Like TKY, I was trading a gas hog, a 2004 Pacifica that was getting about 16 MPG average. And I knew the value for a Chrysler product wasn't going to be going up any time soon. But I was worried about having a smaller car after being used to a large wagon, especially for hauling my usual stuff and moving my daughter back and forth to college.

But surprise! The Prius does not feel small AT ALL, the leather interior is comfortable, and while the cargo area is smaller than a Pacifica, it certainly is adequate. My only gripe with the car so far is that I think the backup camera is misleading. While it will show you what is behind the car, the lens is so distorted that even if you are real close to another car (when parallel parking) or another object, it looks like it is a million miles away...hard to judge the distance!

But all in all I love this car...no regrets!

Now, do I detect a bit of doubt here in the motives of Toyota marketing? :D
Surely your not suggesting decisions are centered around money rather than what serves the customer best?...... :tape2:

Don't forget you get to update yours online to keep current and don't have to pay 250.00 for the latest DVD.

Not one second thought of buying the 2010. Even the ladies walking their dogs as I am washing it say, Nice car, The Valet guys says, I like the way that new Prius Looks. Also we you have it in the Power Mode it actually has power and the first tank was 50.7 MPG and I'm not even that good at driving right. Dealer says there is still a waiting list for the light color cars in Denver. The Gen III makes the Gen II look like a old Outdated model which it should if it is a new Model.

there is a lot of reasons to buy a car or not buy a car. that is the first question, the 2nd question is what car to buy.

so i guess, the real question we need to address since this thread has pretty much veered off the intent of the OP is...(lets face it, the subtitle of the this should be "reasons to not trade in the car i drive now for a 2010")

for everyone who answered yes to question #1, how many of them are having 2nd thoughts?

I had planned on buying a 2010, but have decided to wait for the Lithium-Ion batteries and plug in feature. I don't like the way they've packaged the accessories either.:(

No regrets. Loved the new design when I saw it at the last auto show. I swear I spent more time checking out the locked prototype Prius than I did the new Camaro, Challenger, etc.

Traded in a 2000 Dodge Dakota Club Cab. I'll miss the truck, but not the horrible mileage.

I decided to buy a new car because my old car (2004 Subaru Forester) had become unreliable after being involved in fender bender. I think my local Subaru mechanic is just not very good.

So, the decision then became, which car. Given that I expect to keep my car for as many years as practical, the Prius was a good choice for me. Sure, gas prices are low now, but I fully expect them to soar again as soon as the economy begins to recover. Now, if you do the math, it's really hard to determine whether the hybrid premium will be offset by the fuel economy savings. What really drove the rest of the decision were environmental concerns.

And now that I have my car, I certainly have no second thoughts. I'm very, very pleased with it. I feel that I'm getting the increased fuel economy, reducing emissions, and sacrificing nothing.

Bought my new 2010 Prius PII almost a month ago, already had the windows tinted, added pin striping and caps for the center of the alloy wheels.

My only regret is that I have not yet sold my wonderful white '04 Prius with only 71000 miles on it. We need $4.00 gasoline for a couple of months to get the fence sitters buying.
    Anyone need an excellent '04?

    I bet they'll have Gen 4 by then! ;)

I just got this 2007 Prius, so I'll have it for quite a while. I'll start thinking about my next car whenever the Gen 4 Prius comes out. :D

I still have my '04 with 67,000 miles in perfect shape. Could not see getting the 2010 with so much life left in my car. I'll pass on gen iii and wait for gen iv. Good luck with the sale!
