Just got my Prius today Silver package #6 and all i can say is what a car.WOW is the only way to describe the feeling!!! I can tell it is going to take some time to get used to driving. Drove 27 miles this evening got 47 mpg. I do have one question how long dose it take to get used to the MFD and is anyone selling a clear plastic screen cover like the ones that are available for the palm pilot???? Thanks to All Dave
Congratulations! Out here everyone has silver so I opted for the blue. As with the Palms, if you cut your fingernails and keep your screen fairly dust free, you won't get scratches. I just use a micro fiber towel once or twice a week (with the car off so I don't activate anything) and clean the screen. No problems. I have a Clie PEG-S60 that doesn't have a screen protector OR a scratch after two years of use.
Welcome to Prius ownership, Dave. I've had my Prius almost 2 months now - and unlike the MANY other cars I've had, the "WOW - What a CAR" feeling has NOT worn off!!!! As to the touch screen - good question - I don't think I really need a clear cover protector, but I'd be interested to know if there's one out there. Yoda
Hi Dave, I got a screen protector from Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWN%3AIT It very thin and was very easy to apply, makes me feel much better when working with the MFD.
Gee, congrats. I ordered my Salsa Red BC or package six in October, got it exactly the way I wanted it, took three months. Had it since early January. 11,000 miles later, the wow has NOT worn off. But, sadly there is another Salsa in town, I thought I had the only one. Silver is the least seen colour in the Rocket City. Mostly its techie Green. I have seen about four Classics running around town, an aqua opelecence blue lives near a friend. Getting used to the MFD? Takes work to learn the systems to use the NAV/Bluetooth to its potential. Road noise, interior cabin noise degrades both NAV verbal commands and Bluetooth understandability. I now cut off the A/C on the wheel before answering the call. Consider trading up to Goodyear Comfortreds when you replace those OEM tires, you will be pleased.
[font=Comic Sans MS:b16ed04a49]Congratulations, Dave! If you find that screen too distracting, hit the speech button and say "Screen" and watch it go off. You can even turn off the screen while using Navigation Guidance. To turn it back on just hit Info or Map. Thr touchscreen is not quite like a PDA where you need fine resolution. Fat fingers work fine for the on-screen buttons. You don't really need a screen protector, but keeping it clean with a microfiber towel sure makes it look better. You can keep the radio/CD looking good too, not to mention the dash display.[/font:b16ed04a49]
Thanks for all the posts I think I will feel better having the thin plastic to protect the MFD. Thanks Dave
