Why is my prius not chiming or "screaming" that my headlights are still on when I exit the car (it is powered "off"?? I have left them on several times without knowing it???
If they are on when you open and exit the driver's door, they should shut off, assuming that they were already on when the car was turned off. If the car was already turned off, then you turned the lights to park or full on, they will not shut off when you open the car door. So to recap: do whatever you want with the parking/headlights prior to turning the car off. Then when you open the driver's door, if they are on they will turn off. Just the way that Toyota does it on the G2. Best wishes, Frank
Thank you so much Frank. You'd think since I've owned this car 1 year, I would have known that. Have just always turned them off manually, as I don't have the auto daytime running lights.
You're very welcome! I always leave my parking lights on during the day, using them as DRLs. But watch out, because the lights only turn off if you exit through the driver's door, not any other door! Best wishes, Frank
Or... If the head lights are on...and you open the door before you shut the car off the head lights will not shut off. Does that make your head hurt less?
