I'll refrain from my photo then as the two side-by-side would be far more useful (and it's 108°F outside still)
Your first picture (of the A/C display) has the same matte surface texture as mine--including the scratches (which mine had when I took delivery), contrasted with the second picture (of the audio display). I can see the difference in clarity--the audio display has blacker/clearer numbers.
Mine looks about the same. It is readable, but not crisp. It looks like there is an anti-glare screen, which is causing the lack of clarity.
Based on the photos submitted, I think that everyone's screen has the matte finish. This isn't unusual. It really cuts down glare. The difference between the "sharp" images and teh "blurry" ones is LCD conrast. LCD screens usually have a contrast control that allows darkening the blacks, thus improving contrast. Go too far and the background darkens. I don't know of any control for this on the car. It should be noted that LCD's are also temperature sensitive. Cold slows down response and heat increases contrast. Have you noticed that devices with LCD displays left in the sun or in a hot room, have a "black" display? Could this problem be thermal? It is summer here.
Mine has the same problem - lower screen is more blurry than the top. I'm a weather nut and it's annoying to say the least to strain to read the outside temperature!
Here is my display. Inside the garage, using flash on my camera. Outside the garage, using flash on my camera. Outside the garage, no flash. :noidea:
Wow dmvp, seeing your pictures convinces me there is something wrong with mine, although I wonder if there is anything going on with the fact that I'm looking at a photo and not looking at personally.
Hi all, Thank You for posting and keep em coming please! My appointment is Friday for them to look at it, well see how it goes, but I suggest all to get a dealer to look at it. I am starting to get prepared and hope this gets fixed with little effort on my (our) part. Dmvp yours looks perfect, the rest so far is cloudy (blurry). THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!! Keep posting please!! !!!!!Thank You!!!!!
Sorry all, something came up and I just got back on today  Tomorrow I will definitely take pics of mine and my dads to compare the difference between the two. I don't want to take them now with the backlight on, I think it'll be better in daylight to do it.
Ok, here's a pic of my dad's and mine... His says 90 degrees and mine says 84... His, the blurry one: Mine, not blurry, just has slight lines on the front which I guess is the coating for glare...
I've got a V with Nav.... and YES..... mine definitely looks blurry, too. I will try and post some pics.
I was wrong before. The AC screen is almost unreadable. Now that I have my V AT, I am sorry to report that I too can barely read this display. I hope we can figure out how to get this corrected.
Looks like it's crap across the board. I can see them replacing a few defective units, but this will have just as much luck as trying to get them to replace the crappy NAV screen.
Looks like it has some sort of coating on the display screen, which causes the distortion and blurry. May be able to use plastic polish or rubbing compound to remove the coating.
