Hello! My wife and I just purchased a 2009 Prius package 5. The sticker had the Prius base price at $23500 something, and Package 5 was $5000. Everywhere I read online says Package 5 is anywhere between $1800-2300. What gives? Also, the Package 5 states that it's bluetooth capable and it does bluetooth quite well, but also that it's XM capable and has a SAT button but nothing when you hit that button. Are we missing something?
Congratulations on a wise choice:welcome: My 2009 came with pak #5 last November and I think it listed somewhere over 4000...I didn't save the sticker.I just checked Edmunds.com and they list approx 1800...reduced price to compete with 2010 Radio comes "ready" for XM connection. You must pay for a receiver and antenna installation...mine came with a 6 months trial subscribtion..I think 2010s are coming with 3 months... If you really like XM (we do) a lifetime price is about 450 from XM depending on choice of XM paks.
So did I get ripped on the package cost then? A lot of websites show the same price for Package 5 being $1800-$2300 depending on Prius trim (Base/Touring).
This was on the sticker from Toyota itself, not the addon sticker the dealer usually does for window tint, etc.
What was your total out the door price ? If you paid $28,500...you paid full price for a 2009 when 2010 would have been very close in price...some folks prefer the 2009, I think, but the bottom line is ... "Are you pleased with your new car?" If you felt good about the value of your purchase, looking back will almost always create a feeling of what if. I love mine and although I'd like a 2010 (if I'd only waited a few more months ) I would not trade at this time for one. You're going to get great MPG, Solid reliability, a good ride, etc for years to come. Enjoy :cheer2:
Oh I love the car!! I kept pushing my wife to the Prius over the Camry. We did get a great deal. I was just curious as the prices at Yahoo, Edmunds, etc listed the Package 5 as much cheaper than what was on the sticker. The only thing that was confusing is when it listed the bluetooth capable which it has, and XM Satellite capable which it does not have. I was told the module at the dealership was $199, or $449 installed.
I purchased a package 5 (I believe package 6 was everything in a package 5 plus leather.. and I didn't want leather) last year. Anyway, my package 5 came with bluetooth and it is XM and SAT capable, but you have to buy those options. If you hit the SAT button nothing will happen. Good choice! I love my car!
It is very easy to add XM to your car. No need to pay the dealer to do what you can accomplish yourself in an hour or so. I did it to my 2009 Package 2 car a couple months ago and here is the thread with the info and links to the instructions you'll need. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...chat-xm-kit-works-package-2-a.html#post873898 Good luck and enjoy! Bottom line - what did you actually pay for the car? I purchased a package 5 Touring two months ago(Raleigh Nc area). I negotiated hard, and left the dealer paying $22,500 OTD - taxes, title, floor mats, everything. There was a package discount ($2650), which you should have received also (package 5was listed for about $4450). With the 2010 now available, there's no reason to pay above invoice - I paid more than $2000 BELOW invoice. Dan
