I am looking at the XM kit from CoastalTech. If you have purchased the kit from them with their offer of 1 free year service, did you have to sign an additional contract? I.e., is the one year free with the purchase of an additional year of service or is it truly free with purchase? The CostalTech folks did not believe so, but were not positive.
I purchased the XM kit from Coastal about 1 month ago. I installed and activated it with XM. At the time, I signed up for only 1 year of service (prepaid). I gave Kelley a call at Coastal and within a week my XM account was credited. I called XM back and had the credit put back on my credit card. As far as I know, I will have XM service for the next year completely FREE! Hope this helps.

The free year of service and free activation included with the purchase of our XM kit DOES NOT require you to sign up for any period other than the free year. I bought one and love it! My kit came with free activation and 90 days free service plus an XM gift card for $135. This allowed me to sign up for any plan I wanted. I can sign up for a longer plan and stretch the gift card if I want to. I've had nothing but great service from Coastal. Thanks Dave! Now make sure your iPod interface works with XM. Bob

I am thinking of getting the kit as well for my new prius. I just don't have the curage to start taking everything apart and doing it myself. Any know of a place to get something like this installed here in S. California?
