For those people who have the IPA feature, how often do you use it? 100% of the time, some of the time, not when you are in a rush or in busy traffic, hardly ever, never ever, what and why? Personally I can't wait till I get mine so I can use it 100% of the time - But I am interested in other people's experiences.
I cannot believe it myself, but even living in NYC I STILL have not used it! I either forget I have it or when I remember it's there there is so much traffic I just swing the car in myself since I know I can do it in seconds...
I have used it a couple of times. But, that is on a side street showing friends. Otherwise it is easier and quicker to park it myself.
That was my thought too however there are people out there who wont reverse park. My thought was these are the same people who don't want to be sitting in the traffic altering a box on a screen either.
I thought I was gonna use it all the time, but after almost half a year, I used it only 2-3 times.. and that was just to test how it worked
IMHO, it's a gimmicky feature that absolutely astounds people you show it to however it has a major limitation: It can only parallel park if the spot is big enough to get into in one swoop. If you have to rock yourself into a spot, it won't be useful. As I can usually park a car in the tightest of spots with no problems, the IPA doesn't help me. When they invent an IPA that can REALLY maneuver a car into a tight parking spot, then I'll be impressed!! Stu
The rear view cam greatly helped my parallel parking abilities, much more than the IPA would, I suspect, since I don't have IPA.
And I suppose if the spot is big enough to reverse park into in one swoop, then if one was either in busy traffic or in a rush (who isn't?) it would be more appealing to front in and rock from there.:bump:
Perhaps I've just forgotten I had it! I have pressed the button once, but I haven't even attempted to use the IPA. I know I should try it out sometime, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Sounds rather like Remote A/C for me - I forget to activate it when I need it. Not really needing IPA is part of the reason I skipped on ATP. It's a neat trick that may be useful from time to time, but it wasn't something I truly needed.
I hear ya' Rick, I liked the gimmick factor of the IPA, but it was the LKA and DRCC (not to mention the LED headlamps and 17" rims) that really made me go with the V. It gets hot here but unlike where you are I can deal with the hot weather from June thru August... Now if I lived where you are, I think I would have forgone everything in the V just to have the SR. And even then, like you, I think I'd still forget to activate it! lol
