I just purchased a 2010 IV a few days ago and noticed today that I don't get a warning beep if I open my drivers door while leaving my headlights ON. Every other car I have owned gives some type of warning beep to let you know to turn off the lights. Is this a beep I should hear? Also, is there a way to turn it on/off? I have searched the forums here, but couldn't find anything on the topic.... TIA
MY NEW 2010 WONT ARRIVE UNTIL 7/20 ,HOWEVER; I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2007 AND THE HEADLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR(AND THE CAR IS ALREADY TURNED OFF) IF THE 2010s ARE THE SAME THEN NO WORRIES,HIT YOUR POWER OFF BUTTON, GET OUT AND LEAVE(DOUBLE CHECK THAT THE LIGHTS ARE IN FACT OFF).THE LIGHTS WILL COME BACK ON AT NEXT START.CONGRATS ON THE NEW CAR, CANT WAIT TILL MINE ARIVES!
AHHH - I just found in the manual that the lights will stay on for 30 seconds after you power off the vehicle and open the door. I guess that is why there is no warning beep.
Now, if you don't want to wait 30 seconds, just use your key fob to lock the doors and the headlights will turn off as well.
Just bumping an old thread: On our Canadian Prius, there are 4 positions on the headlight switch: off, parkers, on and auto. If I opt to use on, as opposed to auto, and exit the vehicle, there won't be any warning, and the lights will stay on. Seems a step backwards...
Interesting. In US-spec Toyota and Lexus vehicles with automatic lights the lights go off within 30 seconds regardless of what is selected on the switch...
I stand corrected: with headlights left (not auto), got out, closed the door. No warning, but 30 seconds later the headlights went out. Cool!
