Well, my dad decided it would be a good idea to suction-cup mount a gps to the screen in my mom's prius when they took a road trip to California. This ended up putting some fractures in the screen. As her's is a prius without nav, this isn't too big a deal for the most part, and she'll eventually go for a replacement from one of the salvage dealers. In the mean time, though, she had the audio way toward the back speakers to play music for my kids, and the button to move the audio forward is exactly the spot that won't work. So, I was wondering if there is a roundabout way to adjust the audio without using the screen. This is a 2005 non-nav, non-JBL, single-disk Prius.
Worst-case scenario, you could just disconnect the 12V battery to get all the settings cleared (you'll lose time, presets, etc..).
<Smacks forehead> And I failed to think of that why??? Thanks Presto! That should work just fine. She doesn't listen to the radio much, so she would mind loosing presets.
hawkjm73, I had the same problem on my prius... and want to replace the touchscreen. I had an estimate of around $7000 to replace it from a dealer. Yikes! Did you finally replace it? How much did it cost you? And where can I find these salvage dealers you mentioned? Thanks.
