My friend think I've gone bonkers getting a Prius anyway. I certainly don't want to start calling it "Fred" or "Lucy". I believe that would push me over the edge.
HAHAHAHA! My family already thinks I've lost it. What's a little more insanity going to hurt if you name your car?! Maybe we should start a new club "The Prius Nuts" or something to that effect. Yoshi is still in A status. Hope you get yours soon.
I'm thinking that once my Prius comes in the excitement and activity on Prius Chat will diminish some. At least to the point my family doesn't think I'm obsessed.
I agree. But it will still be fun to check in every once in awhile. I guess I'll have to go back to my cruisecritic boards. At least this one has given me a little distraction from my cruise obsession. And it's not until December!!!
YAY YOU!!! I JUST got the call that mine is at the dealer's!! (because of work and holiday stuff I can't get there until NEXT weekend. So you'll probably GET yours first!
Hi MaggieMay, Did your car come on the Overseas Joyce? If so, when did it go to frieght status? Mine was on that ship and went into frieght on 6/25. Since its coming to Upstate NY, I'm hoping to get it by Friday at the latest.
Mine was on New Century 1 - got into Newark on the 25th - dealer is in MD. It's a few days sooner than I expected. No complaints!
Maggie, I just realized you too were on the New Century 1. I'm wondering how timely the updates are by Toyota. You got notified yours was in Ground Status on the 29th and the ETA would be the 4th, yet it showed up at the Dealer today! Originally when I saw the ship arrive in Newark on the 25th, today is when I expected the car based on prior deliveries. Yours confirm that. My dealer Sunday said 7/13 ETA then updates it Monday with a 7/6 ETA and today it was updated to F status. It appears it may already have been loaded and shipped out before they got around to changing the status based on your experience. Sure hope it makes it before the weekend since we're down to one car right now.
I think the 'standard' port to dealer time is pretty loose. I imagine there's a zillion different kinds of cars at the port. As they finish their prep work they line 'em up based on the car carrier's route. There may be one Prius on a car carrier that stops in different cities at different dealerships along the way. Looks like mine went through prep pretty quickly and that the car carrier made a bee-line for Maryland. But next week there might be a dozen stops before they get there. Hey yours will be there VERY SOON. Time to go on line and buy car polish: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ing/62907-my-favorite-detailing-products.html I did that last night - I'll be ready to shine!
OK the holiday weekend is approaching. It's been two days since it left the port on the truck. I can drive that route in 6 hours in my car so it should be showing up today! I think I'll start up the interstate to see if they have hit Fairmont or Morgantown yet. James, you looking at this? Can you tell me when it stops off in Morgantown??? I need my car this weekend! I can't concentrate at work so I think I'll just go to the dealership and sit out in the waiting area and drink their free coffee.
This kills me. Mine is all prepped and sitting there waiting for me and I can't get down there to pick it up - and yours is lost in transition!! Arrrggghhh! It is a cruel system!
LOL, if they drop mine off in WV, I'll check to see if yours is on the truck to be dropped off on thier return route.
Well, I got a call from the dealer and was so excited until he said that the trade fell through . I now have to wait another month. They are going to put in a "Preference" order. Does anyone know what that means? I know you can't place an order in the traditional sense. I'm so bummed . I was looking forward to enjoying the wonderful weather with the sunroof open and driving down the highway.
When you place a preference, it just means, you basically "request" a car the way you want it. Sometimes it takes, sometimes it doesn't. With the Prius, since it's an import, it's usually a little tougher. Hopefully your dealership will be getting a Prius that meets your needs. It's better if you're flexible on color. If not, it could be awhile. They should know hopefully tomorrow what they are getting on allocation since the new inventory will probably post on Dealer Daily then. But even at that, it may be a few weeks to a month or so for your car. What a bummer!! Sorry for the bad news. If it makes you feel any better, my car is now showing D-ETA of 7/15. 2 days behind where it was a couple days ago. I heard the port is closed tomorrow for 4th of July. Figures!!
The dealer had given me a printout of the car and all the information (VIN #, Vessel, package, etc). They were going to trade a couple of their II for the IV w/SR. The other dealer backed out so as a result - no car. They said they were getting their allocation late today or by tomorrow at the latest. From there, they will know if they can fill my request within a couple of weeks or it could be up to a month.
