I have a question regarding the use of bluetooth. I do not have the Nav system. Scenario: I am talking on the car's bluetooth system. I pull up to a parking space. I want to continue using the handsfree system, but I want to turn the engine off. If I hit the car's power button to turn the engine off, I also shut down the bluetooth system AND my conversation. Am I missing something? Is there a way to shut down the engine and still have the accessories powered up?
Most likely being a hybrid when you park the engine will shut off on its own. When you hang up you can power down and be on your way.
Yes, but if you do this, the ICE will turn on and off as needed to supply power. I also wish that there was a way to continue the conversation over bluetooth. If this were a 'normal' car, you would just turn the key to ACC position. Is there a similar function on the Gen 3 Prius?
Same as you - bluetooth no Nav. The first time I got a call on the bluetooth after getting the car (surprised the heck out of me that it actually worked...) I talked for a few minutes, pulled into a parking space and powered the Prius down. Oh C%#P! All of a sudden, I heard a muffled sound - my cell on the passenger seat had the call and I just continued the conversation. I thought I saw a piece in the owner's manual about transferring a call when you shut the car down - I never did it....
I know that the Prius III has accessory mode, and I know how to get it in accessory mode before you start the car. The manual HAS to say something about putting it into accessory mode without turning the car off first, but I'm too lazy to go out to the car and look.
Sorry if I'm slightly OT with this but the thread got me to wondering if I'd be able to connect my current phone with the BT Nav in the soon-to-my Prius. There have been a lot of threads on the subject of Bluetooth compaitbiliy - I just found this site (which I got to via Toyota) It may be of help to some. Toyota Bluetooth Phone
