I went to the Sterling Mccall dealership in Houston, Tx and they didn't have any with navi or the solar roof in stock so I couldn't take a look at it. I just called another dealership in my area and asked do they have a 2010 Prius with the navi or the roof that I can take a look. That sales person told me that they didn't make any Prius with the roof at the factory(maybe just for Texas Region). I saw and read post from other 2010 Prius owner with the roof package so I guess he might talking about just for the Texas Region. Is there anyone else in Texas got a Prius with the solar roof in their local Texas dealership?
You were given major misinformation. The 5 state GST region (includes Texas) has just been slow getting cars, particularly the higher end models with Nav, SR, etc. The model V is not even showing up on build a toyota site yet. Give it some more time, and/or email several local dealerships to get quotes on exactly what you want (assuming you know! ). I just checked, and there is one model IV somewhere (or coming soon) with NAV. No sunroofs that I could find.
I ordered a Solar III from a Dallas dealer yesterday. The fleet manager showed me a printout that he claimed was the reigion-wide "build order" placed by GST with toyota. According to him, from now on, IIIs will only be avialble with Nav, no Solar. IVs will only be available Solar, no Nav. When I told him I would look for a III Solar out-of reigion, He siad that the build order may change based on customer feedback, and accepted my deposit on a Solar III. I hope he was B.S.ing about the order.
The inventory manager at Round Rock Toyota gave me a print out of the June GST allocation. According to this print out, there are 65 Prius IV's with moon roof coming to the region. There are also 75 Prius II's with Navigation and 158 Prius IV's with Navigation. This is out of a total of 1500 Prius's coming into GST for the June allocation. So, if a dealer tells you that GST didn't order any cars with the moon roof or navigation package, he is not being completely truthful with you (or simply doesn't know since he hasn't seen any yet). I believe Round Rock Toyota has at least one Prius IV with navigation in stock. I haven't seen any with a moon roof yet, but they should be coming some time soon. The Prius V with ATP is also rare within GST (63 in the June allocation). However, I was told that the one I ordered will arrive at the dealer sometime between July 6th and 8th. Just be patient!
i asked to place special order at the Sterling Mccall Toyota dealership and they didn't ask for any deposit or anything. And the dealership I went today said they didn't place the order if they didn't ask for deposit. Anyways, the Fort Bend dealership I went to today helped me place an order for Prius III, Blizzard Pearl, Dark Grey Fabric Cloth, and with Roof package. As what the sales told me, he went to the Prius Trainning yesterday and they said all the roof package will be leather. So it might really means they only have Solar Roof for IV instead of III and IV.
More misinformation. The solar roof package always includes nav. That is how Toyota is making them and noone can order SR without nav. Again, we are early in the inventory buildup for the GST region. It is possible GST could specify they won't order any IIIs with SR, but it's more likely they are getting the whole range of models and packages.
I don't trust anything any salesman says, and even less if they've allegedly taken the Training course. The one I talked to (who was supposedly "trained") didn't even know what those black boxes under the seats were for.
I have decided that the solar package and AT packages "cost" Toyota a lot initially (even though the car should sell pretty quick) so they are putting more "affordable" cars out initially to start the revenue comming in as well as getting the car exposed to the public. Now it's time to start cranking out the souped up models. BRING 'EM On. Pllleeeaasssee.
What I meant to say was that according to him, IVs wiil not be available with stand-alone nav,its solar or nothing. IIIs will not be available with solar. AsI said before, he did take my deposit, but he was pretty negative about the possibilitey of getting a Solar III within the 60 day time limit I put on my "non-refundable" deposit.
I'm just a little suprised that initial availability has been so limited everywhere. Only because Toyota has chosen the Solar Roof as being one of the first extra's to feature in US domestic advertising. Launch in Spring, head into Summer, feature the roof and ventilation system in one of the first television ads, you'd think they'ed want it to be a little easier to get one, or at least see one. Seems Oregon has more than the National percentage per state and I still haven't been able to see one on the streets or at a dealership.
has anyone tried asking itheir dealer if can trade for the III with SR that is showing up on Build a Toyota for the GST region?
When I run GST's Build a Toyota, it allows me to spec a III with SR, but none come up on the list of cars I can see. What zip code are you using?
This is strange to read that there are no solar roof Prius cars to sell in Texas? I am in AZ and I have had my IV with solar for weeks. I do get people either driving by or walking up and asking about it though! I did not pre-order it, just got lucky I guess and had called a Dealer about one weeks before and he called as one came in that was not spoken for. HMmmmm?
77007 and choose any dealer, or start from fredhaastoyota.com. I can find a gray III with SR for $30k+. Also, some IVs with SR for $31k+.
i see what you did there. thats because someone left the sunroof open. i drove 100 miles last night home from the dealer with my new IV solar nav and i am soooo glad i got the sunroof. it was 8pm and 83 degrees out side - i try not to run the air unless i really ned to so i opened up the roof and cracked the rear windows and got a flow going and was comfortable (until the thunderstorm).
I don't know what you guys are talking about with the solar package not being available in Texas. I picked up mine at Community Toyota in Baytown on Monday, June 22. It is silver, has the leather, solar roof, nav, etc. The solar roof works well and keeps the car closer to the outside air temp as long as it is parked outside. I have been averaging around 54 mpg :rockon:and this is the first Prius I have owned. I am a bit of a lead foot but have not been quite as bad since getting the Prius; but I was still surprised at the great mileage I am getting. Gotta' love it. My wife has a '09 and has been averaging around 46 mpg since the heat wave started, guess that is due to using the a/c more. PS Forgot to mention that my wife found my Prius the first day we started looking, within hours actually. Way to go Baby!
