I need someone to check their car's lower air dam area where the foglights are. My brother ran over a Detour sign to avoid an oncoming car and yes it did cause some dings and scratches to the lower bumper (probably because of the 3-legged metal stand as opposed to the sign itself). Anyway, the foglights on either side seem to have a large gap between the light housing itself and the black plastic air damn. It sorta looks as if the foglights are pointed inboard. I thought the foglights fitted perfectly into the round receptacles but I could be wrong. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!
Mine looks as you describe. Gap between the lense and black grill and aim is skewed inward slightly. Chances are if any damage was done to you fogs, they both wouldn’t have suffered the exact same damage. I think your fogs are OK. Worry about loaning you Prius to your brother again.
So the gaps are supposed to be in there and they're NOT supposed to be a perfect fit into the receptacle?
I checked with the post that RadMarv had. His foglights look comfortable sitting nicely in the housing. Mine actually has a gap between the round housing and the foglight on both side.
Tideland, You can pull the small grills out around the fog lights to look for damage. Pull down and to the front GENTLY from the bottom. They just kind of hook under the other black "grill" parts.
The fog lights in my brand new 2005 Prius fit snugly in the circular cutouts in the black plastic grille. No gaps, and they both appear to be pointed directly ahead. No toe-in that I can discern. One more data point for you. Best of luck, Steve Z near Libby, MT USA
