Please can someone help us? We havea 2004 prius,it has a backing camera,which has stopped working. Any idea where we can get one of these cameras please?we are retired so dont have a lot of money. The Toyota dealers in NZ said it would cost $850.00 to replace!!!! regrds BOB
You sure it's an 04? AFAIK, the backup camera didn't exist until the 06 model year, at least for the US.
See on eBay. I'm looking on the same thing.. You cannot find it cheaper less than 200USD, I personally need one for me.
You can purchase a replacement camera at Sigma Automotive. I would first have the camera and the integrity of the wiring checked by a Toyota dealership. If it's just the camera it's not too tough to change.
A original Toyota camera cost on eBay 250-300USD maximum, I've buy those days 2 (one for me and one for my friend) with 2 x 250USD!!
Sorry should have mentioned that we brought thew 2004 from Japan into NZ It has all the add ons. I was wondering if I could get one from Japan,maybe off a wreck over there,but dont know how to contact them. regrds BOB
The warranty at Toyota it's continental.. I think you wouldn't get a warranty in NZ, since it's connected by Australia continent. For example, an Prius acquisition from US doens't have any warranty on Europe! By the way, you take your car to Japan with the ferry, or what do you do with the hybrid system, since it's still on warranty until 2012 (8 years standard wty in Europe)? Find one camera at a salvage, on eBay. Buy it from US and you'll sleep in peace; you will not pay more than 300USD on it, incl. shipping to NZ.
