I'm considering adding the OEM backup camera to my Base Model 2007. Has anyone done this? Is it as easy as buying the camea and sticking it in the lift gate?, or is there more? I'm having a hard time finding this info in other threads.
No body? I feel like I'm asking for a left handed smoke shifter, or 50ft of shoreline... Can someone answer what the black dot on the paint surface of the lift gate is? I see this on Prius equipped with backup cameras. (I'm guessing its a IR light for night use) Anyone?
If your talking about the small black square to the right of the Toyota emblem, it's the door locking button for cars equipped with SKS.
Smart Key System. That black square on the hatch and front driver and passenger doors locks the doors with a touch of the finger. SKS also allows you to unlock the doors and start the car while your key and FOB is in your pocket.
Oh! thak you for clarifying. I'm glad to know there is one less part I need to look for to add a camera. I sent an e-mail to "steve" at this contact: autobeyours dot com slash HighSpeedStealth dot htm per reccomendation on another thread. I'm hoping they will have some specific information on the parts and wiring required for this challange.
Theoretically you should connect camera to connector M14 to pins 27-30. I haven't done it by myself yet but studying. Check the electrical diagram. I have no idea should the signal be PAL or NTSC but if you find out let me know. I have European version. Don't forget connector M13 pin 21 as a reverse signal.
