well, my dear prii folks, tomorrow i pick up my gen 3 barcelona red series II. i notice a guage that looks almost like fuel tank guage to the right of the speedo. i think it shows what your mpg is. does it fill in solid or bounce around or what. im sorry very naive question . fred from nashville
Where exactly are you located in Nashville as I live in Franklin! Not to completely hijack this thread, but who did you order your barcelona red through? I ended up ordering my car out of Memphis as both Beaman and Alexander would not put in a priority allocation order for me. Scott
barbar manual!! i dont need no stinking manual! actually since i dont have my car i dont have a manual. however the hint that you can set it several differnet ways helps already! switch just luck of the draw . beaman had one to trasfer to another dealership i slipped in since it was the color i wanted and series II. i also saw a dark blue one in the lot.
The display directly to the right of Speedometer is the Instantaneous Fuel Consumption and will display your current rate of fuel consumption in MPG. Goes from 100 to 0 MPG and will bounce around depending on how you are driving at that moment. Pretty nice.
I've noticed 5 distinct types of activity with the "real-time mpg gauge". Hybrid System Indicator (HSI) marks are in the power range (heavy acceleration) - mpg indicator stationary approx. around the 25 mpg mark. HSI to the right side of the "eco center line" (acceleration) - mpg indicator stationary approx. around the 49-50 mpg mark. HSI on the eco center line - mph indicator fluctuates around the 75-90 mpg mark. HSI to the left of eco center line (gradual deceleration - depending on slope of road) - sometimes 100 mpg pegged, sometimes around the 50 mpg mark. HSI not registering (coasting) - 100 mpg pegged. These are not definitive observations, but I am seeing a definite pattern. Hopefully others will comment on these "5 modes". Here's a link to a thread that shows the Hybrid System Indicator (though it is missing the center line mentioned above): http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...my/62323-2010-mpg-stats-post-them-here-4.html
