I received my pkg3 on Monday and I love everything about it. I wish I could have afforded the Nav but oh well, I got everything else I wanted. Anyway the car is so good I almost feel bad about the complaint. The cargo mat that came with the car (port installed? It says Prius on it) is beige (going to get dirty), and has no binding on it. Since it doesn't have binding it looks reeeeeeally cheap and there is fuzz getting all over everything (big clumps). I actually took the mat and flipped it over for an instant conversion to a black all weather mat. It doesn't quite fit in the cubby corners but is very close and not noticable. Can anyone confirm that they aren't supposed to have binding on them? Thanks, G
Not sure what you mean by "binding", but the lack of firm edges on the rear mat is intentional. Without them, the sectional folding is possible. That's a very handy feature not available with the previous design. I'll admit, the lighter color is odd, since the other mats were made dark for the very reason of concealing blemishes. .
Binding is that fabric they stitch onto the edge of most mats to keep them from fuzzing at the edges. See below:
The GenII has this type of binding, but it does prevent the mat from folding when you want to get into the storage area below it.
I got the same mats and I hate them! I saw the black underside and thought about turning them around but I didn't. I think I will now. Thanks FRED
