I often find it necessary to utilize valet parking. This is true at medical facilities and at center city parking facilities and garages. I'm taking delivery of my Prius tomorrow and wondering if I'm signing up for trouble. Would like to hear how it's done and what has been the experience of others.
check inside the console for a little pad of directions on starting and shuting down. There is a little hole in the corner. These are for valet parking, you tear one off and put it on your key. If the pad isn't there, be sure to ask for one. See if they'll give you two since you valet park so much.
Thanks. I had heard about the notes, but am wondering how well they work. Many lot attendants in Philly are recent imigrants of questionable English reading ability.
They have pictures. And there' s no guarantee the local college kids working valet would actually read the directions. I know the kid that parked my car at the Hilton didn't bother to. Because I watched him. I think he was testing the 0-60 in the parking lot.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva\";p=\"89832)</div> I have read about the pads-- I did not find any in my car, Toyota did not seem to know what I was talking about, said if I could find the part number on the back of a pad they would order some for me-- Any help on finding these pads???
M/N 00505-VTS05-PRI On the one occasion where I encountered valet parking, I nicely told the guy I needed to park it myself. He admitted he had no clue as to driving a Prius. I gave him a valet card to read.
poppff- Thanks- just called toyota and they found what i wanted and are sending me a pack in the mail-- Your info was right on target with the part number Thanks again Chuck found your link and printed my own thanks
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(genalex\";p=\"89837)</div> If they can read and the foreign language is Italian or Spanish, the PriusChat File Library may have what you need. The Spanish thread also has a wonderful discussion of some translation issues. I found it in the Archive at http://priuschat.com/forums/archive/o_f/f_...le-library.html
I parked in SF last week. My friend who has more experience with valet parking told me that he leaves them the fob but always takes the key with him just in case. Of what, I'm not sure. They knew what they were doing but I was nervous, anyway.
Tried to get the Spanish version of the valet card, but couldn't get to it. I got the thread describing the various revisions to it, but don't know how to access the actual file for the image. Need help.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva\";p=\"89840)</div> Always thought it would be handy if there was a seperate "valet key", or "valet mode" which would limit the car to under 20km/hr Visions of valet from "Ferris Bueller" Dave
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(genalex\";p=\"90097)</div> Sorry. I don't know why my first search only turned up an archived thread, when it is still in the current version of the File Library. Try this: http://priuschat.com/forums/valet-card-eng...tions-vt67.html I am sure it contains two versions of the Spanish card (use the later one). Not sure where the Italian one is. Hope this helps.

And, yes, I am registered and logged in.
I've been to 4 valet parking places in the last 3 months. 3 of them were well aware of the car, and the 4th one figured it out real quick. He told me later that there are other cars out there just like it. (The Lexus perhaps?) In the future, I'll simply say "It starts funny" and see what they say. If they assure me it's OK, I'll just move on. I'm no longer worried about valet parking. I've got the cards, but I've yet to give one out.
I've only ever had 1 problem with valet (and I use Valet alot). Basically the valet didn't speak English and had no clue how to put the car in Park , he kept looking at the gearshift cluelessly. Luckily He was bringing me the car and not parking it, so I just showed him the button. If the person looks confused, you might want to point out the park button before they take the car.
