my biggest disapointment is the dealers (when buying) and their service departments attitude. My next car will be something else. btw not a troll

Moi meme! Same with the mattress on our bed, the firmer the better; good for the spine too.

So many quirks and complaints on the G2 early models .... makes me glad I waited 3 years of in-service time before I bought my 2008 Prius. I have had none of the problems that so many complain about, in particular the seating and the gas tank capacity. I use a bead cushion on my seat anyway, like many cabbies do ... helps massage the back on long trips especially! Also when I pump gas I do it at the slowest fill rate; it appears to help the tank bladder to accommodate the volume change.

there is so much you are not saying. is this complaint about multiple toyota dealers in the selling and service, or just one? Do you have any recent experience at other brands' dealers to compare it to?

what is your current prius? how do you like the car itself?

Blame the EPA? The US Prius is programmed to run the ICE at higher duty cycles to warm up the catalytic converter so that emissions will be lowered. The system is geared toward reducing emissions primarily, not providing great fuel economy.

I wish someone would just come out with a hack or a flash that would switch the scheme to the European or Asian scheme.

I have noticed on my 09 that while the engine turns on a few seconds after powering up the car, when I stop at a light within a minute or two, the engine will run for a couple seconds then stop. I have also been able to get it to run electric only within a couple miles of starting.

Having to pass on a 2010 package V. that the wonderfull Toyota folks offered to us at discount. I still can't stand to dwell on it more than a few seconds without it eating up my insides. Oh for the love of harmony at home, what have I done?!? Not that there's a thing wrong with the '04 (other than 80K miles of road chips to the paint, along with skuffs, dings and the like.

Oh! I thought there was something terribly wrong with mine for doing that, because I don't know anyone else's Prius that shakes like mine when it switches. And I have about a dozen friends with Prii from various years. I think I'll still take it in to the dealer to get checked, because it feels like I'm rolling over a small animal or something at times.

The seats!!! The seats are nice looking but they do not allow me to assume a natural seating position. I have a Honda Fit which is slammed for it's seating position yet my Fit does not bother my back like my new Prius' seats do! I have not sit in any seat besides the driver seat so I don't know if this applies for any other seat. Besides this I am absolutely thrilled with my Prius and may never drive my Fit again!!!

It feels worse when the engine is cold. Once the engine is warmed up from driving around a bit, the shake is barely noticeable (if at all). I always end up stopping at a red light during the first minute of driving so the still-not-warmed-up ICE would shut off and the shake would happen. I wonder if adding an engine heater will prevent those "cold" shakes from happening...

i don't find it embarassing. people say whoa whats that you stalled and i say no - its a prius, it shuts itself off at the lights and starts itself again after the battery gets me going. then they say - wow, that's smart.

The fuel economy! Man, when I go fast it approaches 5 l/100 km. Terrible mileage.

Oh yeah, I've never owned a car before that got better than about 6.5 l/100 km. OK, 5 l/100 km isn't so bad, I guess considering I was cruising at 130 km/hr+. I've been spoiled by mid to low 4s! :)

My biggest gripe w/ the Prius is the phonebook transfer capabilities (or lack thereof).

That is not a Prius problem, but a Toyota Navigation package problem as it applies to all Toyotas...

The headlight leveling circuit. My sensor is gone, corroded beyond repair as is the connector. The connector is available only as part of the harness ($785), total cost to repair, approx $2000. So, instead of a 2010, I'm going to drive this one into the ground. I never load the back at night so I don't need the leveler, but I can't ever sell the car without repairing the circuit.

In many cases it is not even a Toyota problem - if you have Verizon they often disable the capability of phonebook transfer on the phone. Presumably to make it more inconvenient to change providers.
