What's up with not being able to drive to Hawaii? I just had the need to go to McDonalds in Hawaii but the NAV could not find a route. I wonder why? On a more serious note. Why is there no guidence for Alaska?
I used google maps to plot a course from Portland to Tokyo and it told me to kayak from Portland to Hawaii and then from there to kayak on to Tokyo.
There didn't used to be maps or POIs for Hawaii in the nav. system according to owners there. I wonder if that's changed now? On another note, while driving back from BC to Edmonton I took highway 99 through Whistler BC. Just north of the townsite I was followed for a few km and quickly passed by a small GM car with the Google camera on the roof. I just checked Google maps and that data isn't entered yet (road still very low res.). Keep an eye out, as a GII Prius may appear on the highway (usually several copies are used). Watch for a Driftwood Pearl one.
Sure enough. . . I love that it says to kayak and then says, "continue straight" and "turn right." This is backwards to the advice my priest uncle used to give: "turn right, stay straight."
There are points of origin for Hawaii now. You cannot set a destination for Hawaii if you are not in Hawaii apparently. Still, why add Hawaii but not Alaska?
Having been born in New York, raised in Wisconsin, and having left Wisconsin 1/1/79 and moving to Los Angeles, my mom wanted to know why I chose L.A. to live in. I replied because the "10" Freeway, actually STOPPED in Santa Monica at the Pacific shore, thus ending my "Drive" to Hawaii! Oh well, L.A. has been fun!!!
