Hello Jim, There are quite a few discussions about MSRP. There are regional variations, but the general consensus is that most folks are paying MSRP + Destination + some small processing fees. There are a few areas where folks have gotten under MSRP by a few hundred. In our lovely southern region, most of the new cars come equipped with some added options which send the price higher. There are regions where there are premiums being paid in addition to MSRP. Most here feel that is a bad idea. There are two schools of thought on future pricing. One says that pricing will fall once initial demand lags and cars start building up on lots. The other supposes that higher gas prices will fuel scarcity and higher prices. Good luck and welcome to priuschat. There are a lot of great people here, I have learned a lot about the prius here.
If you're up to it, I would suggest driving to Tennessee to get your car. I live in Atlanta, that's what I'm doing.
I tried to start one here: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-main-forum/63100-price-paid.html
Thanks for the quick responses. Here is SC we're stuck with Southeast Toyota, which is a pain. From looking around in TN and VA the car we want (Prius III with Moonroof and installed Satellite Radio) is amazingly listed on dealer websites within $200 of some of the things I've seen in SC.
Plan on paying MSRP right now. The car is living up to all its expectations- MPG, performance and build quality, plus more. My Prius 4 with roof. $30,350
