Today my engine light came on. It beeped, the VSC light and what looks like the brake light with an exclamation point inside a circle also lit at the same moment. Now I have the big, red triangle lit too. Any ideas?? The car seems fine otherwise. It has 55k miles and is a 2005 model.
This happened to our 2005 Prius last June(had about 60,000 miles on it)--It was a fan that cools the battery and it was covered under warranty.
Bummer! I have a 2005 Gen II with 67,000 on it. The same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago. In my case, the car was driving great and nothing seemed different except that it was over 100 degrees outside and my air conditioner started blowing hot air about 5 minutes after the warning lights came one. It was the inverter coolant pump that broke. It was almost $1,000 to repair. Completely wiped me out financially.....JUST as I had started saving for my deposit for my 2010 Please let us know what it turns out to be. I've started reading a lot about these inverters that seem to have gone out on a lot of the 2005 models right around the 60,000 mark. I have a hunch that Toyota may have to make this a campaign...maybe its just a hunch. But I hate seeing others have to incur such a costly repair. I know I was completely shocked by it. I love my Prius, but I bought it because it was a Toyota and felt that any repairs would be reasonably price wise, unlike a SAAB or Mercedes that a $1500 repair is a common, if not low price. Hope you have a happier ending.
