I'm trying to get the final word here. What is the best way to get Sirius in my 2009 Pkg. 4? Should I buy this? Toyota Lexus and Scion SIRIUS Connect TOY-SC1 SCC1 Package If so, will I be able to install it? If I shouldn't buy this, why shouldn't I and what should I get instead? I NEED MY SIRIUS! I've had this Prius for a week and three days and I'm dying without my Sirius. THANK YOU!
That package works fine. I installed it in my 2009 package 3. Other threads have a Toyota document that shows how to install the antenna and open up the dashboard to get to the radio.
I bought the exact same package for my 2009 in Feb. Had Best Buy install and satellite has quit working three times. Each time they take the dash apart and simply unplug & replug the unit to reset it. Just had it done yesterday the 3rd time. Techs told me it is something about the Prius electronics and when it goes from engine to battery it can knock out the satellite. They said it was happening in someone else's Prius and they uninstalled these parts and installed a different unit with a separate display (instead of being able to operate satellite via the factory screen like I want). The reset worked so I have satellite / Sirius now, but who knows for how long. Anyone hear anything about this? Thanks -
KKP, Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble. Based on the postings in this forum I think your problems are the exception instead of the norm. Personally my self-installed system has been working for 4 months now with absolutely no problems.
Installed mine, plug came loose. Guy at Best Buy said to use glue gun to "lock" into place (the cable connecting between two installed receivers)...works perfect. No problem.
Looks like this parts combo works fine for most. When it goes out again I will ask BestBuy to glue gun it. Thanks for all the info!
My Sat went out after about 8-9 months. Pulling and resetting the fuze on the TOY-SC1 fixed it. I suggest that you put the TOY-SC1 somewhere that's easy to access - in my 08 there's enough space to the right of the glove compartment (behind the rightmost vent cover) for the TOY-SC1 and the leftover length of cable between the SC1 and the SCVDOC1.
