Spent Some Quality Time With My Prius today

    After 5 days of ownership I decided it was time to wash & wax the car. I was also going to clay bar it, but it wasn't necessary.

    One thing that surprised me is that it was a stretch to reach the middle of the roof (never had that problem with any car before)--must be the combination of the car's height/width.

    I must say that I was impressed by the quality of the paint finish--hardly any orange peel at all. Looks great with a good coat of wax (I use One Grand Blitz, a high quality carnauba wax). And the 17" wheels are a breeze to clean. The black spoiler looks great, but someting tells me that's going to be a high maintenance item--looks very scratch prone.

    Yeah I'm worried about the spoiler. There's a similar piece of plastic on my smart and it has fine scratches on it (despite the fact I've only hand-washed it 4 times so far).

    I'm pretty new here but would the clear bra material (3M?) make good protection for it? I don't even know if it's possible just throwing out a idea.

    Hmm, I guess that could work. If it'll stick to unpainted plastic (bumper is painted plastic), then that'll be the way to go.

    Thanks. I use 303 Protectant on the tires--gives a nice matte finish (I don't like shiny tires), and lasts a few washings.

    And--yes--no front plate! :D

    LRKing actually has a good idea. Many years ago when I managed a ski shop we used the same 3M product, marketed as "Scuff Guard". It came in large rolls about 4" wide, cut to length, apply, trim with exacto. Worked well protecting ski graphics. If you can find it, would work great on the spoiler.
