Interesting article on used Prius selling for more than used on West Coast. Here in NOVA, I doubt you could expect used Prius to sell for more than new. Too many dealers competing and availability of new Prius is growing. http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosinsider/0.../B03-174590.htm
We bought our second a few weeks ago. The day we were there, a used 2004 sold for 1200 dollars more than we paid for a new one. Same package but with 17,000 miles and a cigarette burn on the seat.
There is already much conjecture about getting some return in fuel savings based upon the premium paid for buying a hybrid. It's hard to believe that people would pay MSRP + a premium for a USED car in order to be both environmentally conscious and get a return on their investment. For the person who bought the used Prius, guess there is more than one village in Texas missing its idiot!
Especially when you can spend a lunch hour on the phone and find one a few hundred miles away. Maybe they just had to have the red. Bigbaldcuban sure wanted one for a long time before he got his.
I went to the Traderonline.com website four weeks or so ago and posted that the first page and a half of hits were used Prii that were being sold above MSRP. Avaliablity here is still poor and the local dealer is still charging 3,500 over MSRP when they have one.
