I bought my '09 in the beginning of March. I love it, but I do admit I was slightly impulsive...I needed to get rid of my mom's BMW (we shared) since it was starting to need replacements, etc ($1k+ parts). So, I got rid of the BMW and bought the Prius (the only thing it doesn't have is the navigation). Now I've been reading about the 2010 Prius and that lots of dealers are giving discounts on the 2009-0% APR. Maybe I didn't do the best research but I'm still rather miffed. My APR isn't so low, like at 11% (probably because I'm young without much credit) and I may have been able to get a better deal but I'm new at this whole haggling dealer business. Can someone say something to make me feel better?
the 0% interest is only on 30 month loan...or maybe it was 36 months...something like that. You wouldn't pay interest but your payments would be more like $750/month. :jaw: I think you made a great purchase. The 09 might be more expensive (or same price as 10) but you got the 4 door SKS, the touch screen, the back-up camera, and a great reliable vehicle.
No way did you mess up! The GenII Prius is a great car! You got a lot in your package that you would have to pay big $$$ for in the 2010. You and your mom will enjoy it for many years to come, and you can visit this site for some great advice from many of the experts who still enjoy their GenII Prii.
Do you know what goes through the head of every single new car buyer as they leave the lot in their new car? "Hmm, I wonder if I could have done better?" Don't worry. It is a major purchase and you are young. There is always going to be some second thoughts and anxiety. If the dealer was not calling a travel agent to book a cruise as you left and the sales staff did not form a spontaneous conga line, you did fine.
Tough words, but try to pay that sucker off fast as you can. Log your payments, balance and the finance charges as well. Finance charges are eating your wealth, so lower that balance much as possible. Fight for that title so it's yours, not partly banked owned. Good luck!
