Prius Plugin PHEV Conversion Kit with Lithium-Ion - eBay (item 200344551230 end time Jun-19-09 23:25:01 PDT)
I saw this ad on ebay and was very curious about it. Anybody out there know if this is legit? I note the battery capacity is listed as 2 kwh vs. 4 or 5 kwh for the more expensive (~$10,000) conversion kits I've seen listed (Hymotion is the one I see on the web most frequently. I'm new to this site and very curious about plugin options for 2nd generation prius and also the pending plugin option for the 3rd generation model. My local dealer is saying that Toyota will definately NOT offer a pluging option in late 2010. They will not say what may happen in 2011. I asked if the current 2010 model could be retrofit for plugin operation by toyota when they come out with their plugin. I'm unclear on the technical details. Not sure if the plugin simply has bigger batteries or if there is more to it than that. Does anyone know? I'm inclined to hold off on the purchase of a prius until the plugin option is available.
ad offers 4kwh for an extra 999. Don't know where extra batteries would go. still a bargain...how far would 2kwh go?
