I just got my VIN. My delivery date is looking like Monday, June 8th. Sigh.

    Hey that's great! :)
I wish I had a delivery date but not yet and getting a hold of my dealer is only slightly easier than having lunch with the Pope. :tsk:

That's what mine is sounding like as well, 'maybe' Monday... How in the heck could it be Monday for Virginia and maybe Monday for a dealer 15 to 20 miles away from port?! lol I guess none of the distribution system or decisions this region make will ever make sense to me...

Well my Blizzard White Prius V w/Nav will go to one of you lucky ones in the big citiy. My dealer said there were 6 on the Kentucky Highway but he will have to wait until the next ship comes in for me.

Same here for me in PA. A dealer has the exact car I want but won't sell it to anyone till he gets more. He wants to leave it in his showroom for people to look at and sit in. Go figure.

    Big City? :pound:

That's funny. Still I know what you mean. It's hard to get these cars and even worse if you want a IV or a V.
Have you thought of going to a different dealer?

We got our Black III here in Northern VA this morning but we cheated. Bought it in Chicago and had it shipped. I hope that all of you get your delivery dates soon! It seems absurd that the cars are just sitting at the port in Newark. I hope they get them out to you before next week!

We hope so too. My dealer is too hard to reach to get any updates. I still haven't even driven a 2010 yet!
Hopefully the car will be here soon. I'm renting a car this week but don't want to do that for 2-3 more weeks.
I'm actually contemplating other cars but nothing else is as reliable or gets as good fuel economy as the Prius.

We also were in a bind for a car since my husband's VW was sick. Driving it on borrowed time...

We have not taken our name off of any of the interest lists here yet. It should be interesting to see when (if ever) they call to let us know there is a Prius available here.

I have my fingers crossed for all of the PC hopefuls!

My dealer is hard to reach and I have to call him for updates. It's very frustrating but I guess for them it's just one car.
If you can travel to an area that has cars you could probably buy one today depending on what model you want.
I'd suggest that you chase down the dealers because they probably won't bother to call you. There won't likely be any cars in the northeast cars until Friday at the earliest. It takes about 10 days to process them at the port so June 8-10 should be when they start arriving at dealers.

All vehicles made in Japan coming to the Northeast arrive at Port Newark. From Maine to our store on the VA/NC line and out to the Ohio state line is the area served by Port Newark. Initially every store seems to be getting one.

The next vessel behind it the Pyxis Leader has some 5000 vehicles on it. It's due at Port Newark around 6-11. We're expecting a bunch from that vessel.

Yes 'F' status is Freight status. It means that the trucker has been notified to come and get the vehicle at the port and he has 72 hours to make it arrive at the retail store. Then the vehicle goes to 'G' status meaning you should be looking at it on the Ground.

I've started a tracking thread for the Pyxis Leader with all the details I can find.
Do you know how many Prius' are supposed to be on the ship?
I don't know if that ship is for one or more regions.

I like my dealer and while I always shop around to "keep him honest" he fully intends to deal well with me and I will give him my business. He typically asks me what it takes to get my business. On my last purchase Fitzmall was selling HH's discounted pretty significantly and I printed out the internet pricing and he matched it. Maryland is not that far away. I try to be reasonable in my expectations and in return I expect honesty (I know that's hard for a car salesman) but I have dealt with basically 4 dealers in the last 10 years and I have specific people I deal with. They understand the process I expect and I don't like to train new salesmen.

When my current Toyota contact left and went to another location for a short while I ended up with a different make simply because I didn't like dealing with the new people. Since then he has returned and is now the new car sales manager. He doesn't usually deal directly with the customer on deals but he knows for me that is what it takes.

He's a really likeable guy and we can talk frankly about dealer profits and reasonable expectations without getting mad. I enjoy the process with him.

It doesn't hurt that I've bought about 10 Toyota's either since 2000. I would rather wait a month than go to another dealer. He did have a "conversation" with the regional sales manager about me not getting what I wanted in the first shipment, but I understood the difficulty and again am reasonable. He's a small dealership compared to the "Big City" dealerships so I didn't really expect him to be able to match up on the first shipment, (but I was hoping).

The "Big City" dealerships didn't get what they wanted either, so it is everyone. I got mine because it is a PPP. My father and 2 friends who were convinced to order a Prius after talking with me didn't get theirs either on this first boat. And 2 of those 3 people ordered back in September 2008 and February 2009 respectively.

It's tough to find a dealer that you like dealing with, generally.
As long as you are happy with the dealer and the deal you are getting why go elsewhere. many times the sales staff turns over rather quickly. Except for Subaru . I can't stand the sales guy to the point where I will not buy a car from them until he no longer works there. But you HAVE to deal with that initial sales guy for the rest of your life because he's in the computer attached to your file and I don't want him to get any commission at all. He was rude to both my wife and myself, half the time he didn't even look at us but would stare at the ceiling, and basically ignore our questions.
So yes if I had a dealer that I liked to deal with then I would go out of my way to deal with them as well.
But thanks to the Subaru jerk, I started looking at other cars and looked more closely at the Prius and now i am buying one instead of a Subaru. ;)

WAHOO! 2010 Prius arrived in Boston! I got a note from my salesman the he passed a truck carrying them on the highway and 10 min later it arrived at the dealership. They're offloading and prepping them. I hope to get a chance to see and drive it tomorrow. I figured the salespeople are all over it doay!
