Is there anything dangerous/or critical under the passenger seat? I was thinking of installing an amplifier there and need a way to secure it. I was thinking of drilling four symmetric holes and bolting directly to the floor board. Anybody know if there are problems with doing this? Thanks.
Toyota places the amplifier for the JBL audio system under the passenger's seat. It makes sense that if you do not have the JBL system in your vehicle that the space under the seat is perfect for your amplifier use also.
You probably can find mounting points that you could make a bracket for, since the JBL unit goes there. Only thing to be cautious about is if you have side airbags. They are in the seat.
You should be good to go. Just be careful of the wires that run under the carpet from the dash, around the front left seat mounting bolt and up to the seat. These are the wires for the passenger airbag sensor and the side air bag, if you have it. It's under the driver's seat that you need to worry about. The high voltage lines from the battery to the engine compartment run underneath the driver's seat, on the underside of the car. Cheers,

Service manuals are a wonderful thing. I have them, but I suspect DanMan has printed and actually read them. I haven't found the time yet to read through it all, but there's a ton of good info if you know how to look for it.
Nope, didn't print them. Would take WAY too much paper. I have read a great deal on the Prius, and have looked at much of the wiring diagram, but not everything. However, I am good at doing searches, one of the advantages of having the stuff in PDF, so I know where to get the info I need. Plus, I read posts of those who have done things and came up with issues I hadn't thought of. Then I head to the 'books' to check out what they did. The documents fit nicely in my USB Flash Drive, so I always have them with me. Obtaining and assembling the documents was the best $20/3 day investment I ever did. Well, maybe not ever.

I actually wrote a script that clicked on each link and autosaved each pdf page into it's own folder. For a little bit of work, it made clicking alot easier. 1) I've been thinking that if somebody can prove they have a login for techinfo for that day (i.e. send me the log in and I will test it) I might be able to provide the actual pdfs, so that person doesn't have to download all of them. thoughts danman? My pdfs aren't perfectly organized, and I have a few duplicates, but most of the info is there. Are yours collected into one big file, or still split? 2) I've also been thinking of expanding the script to be more autonomous, and giving it away here on PriusChat. I just don;t want to pay $10/day to test it, so I would again need someones login for testing the script. Once I get them organized, I will post to say that I am open to #1 above. I don't see any ethical issues with this. Does anyone else?
DanMan, Anyway I could get/purchase those docs from you? I really want to do some crazy stuff to the car and don't want to fry it. Also, any idea where the wire is that indicates that the car is in motion? I have a non NAV Prius and want to detect/bypass the motion sensor that tells the stereo not to display messages about the current radio station. Thanks for your help. I checked the knowledgebase. It seems to refer to wires going into the navigation system. Is the same wire available somewhere for those of us without Navigation? Thanks for your help, Ryan
One of the purple wires described in the KB going to the MFD should still exist in non-NAV for the animation.
