Haven't you noticed that Toyota doesn't play all its cards at once? Some things, like certain colors, are saved for subsequent years. .
I second that! Maybe with the passage of time Silver Pine Mica will make a comeback. It is a subtly understated shade of green that one grows to appreciate with time. That said, I like the Pearl White and Silver color shades on the 2010 too. Does anyone know if additional colors were added to the G2 Prius lineup after the initial introduction? It seems as though Toyota are minimizing their initial color selections to the most popular ones for the initial G3 Prius models.
Hey Rick , I'm still trying to figure out just what on the 2010 that camera shot shows? What are the twin stalks sticking up at the top of the picture? Wondering Here Also??
The one slightly to the left looks like a telephone pole (or eletricity, etc.), and the other looks like the hood prop, which is holding open the hood as we we look from the front center of the car to the left headlight cover. But that is just my opinion, as it is not my car (although my Blizzard Pearl V should be in my hands this week!)
OK............one minute late. story of my life. Let me guess - The hood prop rod and perhaps a light pole?
I have many customers missing some shade of Green, I guess they haven't gotten the news that Blue (Europe) is the new Green (N.A.)!
I previously posted that it was ridiculous to pay $200 extra for a color. Then I saw the blizzard pearl in person. It looks like a Lexus. The silver was very flat and boring in comparison. Plus, scratches and dirt are less visible on the white. Yellow, orange, green... pink?! These are cars, not gumballs.
Just going by what I've seen in person on the Toyota & Lexus lots ... Toyota's Blizzard Pearl = Lexus' Starfire Pearl
AMEN. I have never had a Prius owner preach to me about their car in the first place, seems the smug nonsense comes from a minority of Prius owners and non-owners. I won't make a fuss about it, but I am taking the HYBRID badges off the sides as soon as I take ownership of mine.
1 to the left is a street light in the distance. The other to the right is the hood prop, as the hood was open. The hood prop is on the left as you're facing the hood this time around. Good catch. I'd have cropped the pic a bit, but there really wasn't room to do so. The photo class instructor's voice in my mind says retake the photo under different lighting w/ a wide aperture to blur out the background, or at the very least, take it against a more generic background w/ the hood closed.
Agree, and in the scheme of things the $220 is a drop in the bucket. .01% of the cost of a II, less for ^^^ models. Compared to paying $200 on cheesy mats - the Pearl is a bargain. Don't tell Doug & team. I have Golden Pearl (creamy white, a bit creamy compared to Blizzard) on my Lexus RX and it's great. So easy to keep clean, doesn't show water spots or light dirt and is very visible, esp at dusk and night - good for Florida drivers.
Rick, guess you were out when your instructor mentioned to try to get a pink bikini in the background.....
OK thanks for that. The shot just seemed so strange ... presumably it was to illustrate the detail of the Blizzard Pearl coating, which it does. Though the whiteness of the color appears subdued.
But I like silver. And that pearly white is kinda nice. A metallic green would look great. Not so keen on yellow. Or orange. Ooh, purple. Yum. But how many people would actually buy one? Toyota's just playing it safe, going with the colours they think will sell best.
The spectra blue mica, which I thought was a fantastic color, came out the year after I bought my car. I've seen a Prius in that color from time to time and find it very eye-catching. I haven't been able to compare the two side-by-side, but I think the blue ribbon metallic, which I've seen on other cars, is very slightly darker and a slightly different shade of blue. Again, since I haven't been able to compare the two together and I only saw the SBM a couple of times, I can't be sure -- but I don't feel that the BRM is as stunning as the SBM. I would like to see a forest green or emerald green -- or even that green-grey that was available on cars before I bought mine. (That or the spectra blue mica would have been the color I'd have chosen if they had been available). Also, I'd like to see a dark silver -- like a pewter. I've seen some expensive cars in that type of color. Classic silver metallic, what I have, is just too common and boring. I think the blizzard pearl is a HUGE improvement over the super white.
My top color choices would be icy blue (in Japan), light purple (like the Honda Fit), bright yellow, sporty red, the darker silver (as previously mentioned), or a light green (but darker then the Pine Mica). As it is, I don't care for any of the '10 colors so I'm not overly anxious to get one, but still excited for all the other reasons. I'm thinking silver, if it looks okay in person. I'm curious about the Blizzard Pearl though since there are so many posts about it. I've always hated white though.

I've owned quite a few cars in my relatively short age, and have NEVER bought a light colored car ... this time around I'm getting Blizzard Pearl ... I like it that much. I was surprised myself.
