I am coming up on 5k on my 2005 Prius. Don McGill Toyota in Houston want $89.95 for this maintenance item. Includes oil change, filter, rotate tires and inspect and adjust brakes.
    Isn't this price crazy?
Are there any other non-Toyota shops I can go to?
If I do this 5k maintenance myself, will it void my warranty?
If I do my own maintenance, what type of self-maintenance will void my warranty?

Sounds a bit highsince there is no brake adjustment. Shop around, Toyota Dealers in my area are offering a $24.95 oil change and the tire rotation is around $20.
Yes, you can do it yourself, Toyota's warranty allows it. Be sure to keep the receipts. I keep mine in the warranty book.

Their website is presently featuring coupons for Oil and Filter Change for $19.95 and Tire Rotation & Brake Inspection for $9.95. Lets see, it totals $29.90, about $60 less than you were quoted.

Brake inspect and adjust can be done on a Prius, and I suppose should be done sometimes. I just don't think it needs to be done at 5K, as my dealer strongly suggested.
He did make one possibly good point: it may be a good idea to do a manual adjustment after it has gone through its break-in of 5K. However it should self-adjust, and it doesn't get used very much.

I think my dealer also charges $19.95 for the oil change but the shop where I bought my tires rotates every 5000 miles for FREE, as long as I own the car.
