I have rented a Toyota Prius 2008 (I think). Today, I switched on the car, stepping the brake before switching... and the brake light was in red. I can move the car, but I have the feeling that the brakes are working, so I have stopped the car. I do not know how to switch off the red light (and the brakes), or if I have to call my rental company because there is a serious problem. Sorry for my English (I am not American). Any idea will be appreciated, david
Also the parking brake may not be returning to its rest position. I had a similar problem when an electrical cable got tangled up with the pedal lever. Look underneath the dashboard to see if anything is keeping the pedal from returning to rest.
