I was just looking (again) through the 2010 Brochure and noticed some conflicting information. The Brochure states that the optional nav package (available on the Prius III, IV and V) comes with "JBL AM/FM/MP3 4-Disk CD changer" but the "JBL AM/FM/MP3 6-disk CD changer" is already standard on the Prius III, IV and V. I'm confused What changer do you actually get with the Nav Package?
The DVD drive on the 2010 is part of the head unit. On a 2009 I believe it's located elsewhere (under the seat?), so isn't taking up space in the head unit.
The standard audio in a III is the JBL which is a 6-disc. When you upgrade to the NAV system option, you drop down to a 4-disc CD. No room for the extra 2 discs, apparently. Been that way for years on Sienna, and a few other models.
2009 has the NAV disc under the seat, not behind the screen sharing the same space as the changer. Keep in mind the NAV unit is a Denso head unit. The non-NAV unit is a Panasonic unit.
I'm disappointed that the JBL cannot be upgraded with USB option. Only the standard CD or navigation can be (coming this September?). Anyone know why this is the case. At least, this is what I recall from a post by Doug a few weeks ago. This issue is adding to some nagging thoughts I have regarding value of P III over PII.
I believe the iPod adapter could be added to non-JBL in lieu of sat radio. Problem is you're sharing inputs (or so it seems) so it's one or the other.
I'm actually surprised that the CD changer is such an issue. Since the system also plays mp3 files, you can fit hundreds of songs on a single CD. I'm more surprised that the USB adapter wasn't standard in the 2009 Prius.
