Are all/most of you being charged the approx. $750 destination charge in addition to MSRP on the 2010; or are some dealers waiving this charge/fee.
I paid it without issue. It's a normal part of the MSRP sticker for any car, not added on top of it. There are other fees that may be questionable but IMO this isn't one of them.
For Toyota, what they call MSRP (on the website, and such_) includes the destination. You should not have to pay this twice... Prius 2 MSRP is $22,000 car +$750 destination. Prius 3 MSRP is $23,000 car +$750 destination. etc. It is easy to find a dealer right now who is charging MSRP ()which includes the $750) plus tax title and licence, plus a hundred or so "doc fees" to fill out three pieces of paper. Nobody is below that- the ones who claim they are charge high doc fees.
Not all who are below that are charging high doc fees. My dealer (Jabber) is charging me a slight discount to MSRP, and then the rest of the fees are state regulated (at least here in Illinois) Doc fees are capped to the state allowed $151, registration fees are capped at the state fees (meaning no dealer is allowed to charge above the actual state fees), so I am tranferring plates for $80, and I will be buying a few PIO (All weather mats, bumper applique), and having them install the lighted sills. Other than that, I am getting no 'high' fees for anything, and with a $250 under MSRP that is being offered to all PriusChat deals, I am a happy guy. That said, the MSRP I am paying, also includes the $750 destination charge. I will say that having shipped many packages overseas, I do not know of any other service that can get a shipment that weighs 3000 lbs from Chicago to Japan for under $2,500, let alone $750. Like the post office, that is a great deal for a 'stamp'!
Two different dealers have quoted me flat MSRP for a V, no additional fees, and no options except for $200 mats. Still too much, IMO, but I'm happy to see that dealers are already down to MSRP. Just wait until the inventory really starts coming in. And the $750 destination charge is genuine and non-negotiable. It's even added on when you price a car at Toyota.com.
It does. Check your window sticker and you'll see it there. Now your dealer may have given you a discount from MSRP which is great, but that's a different thing.
While the sticker would likely show 22,000 + $750, it is very possible that the dealer 'ate' the destination charge, in order to get the deal. That said, I would be very surprised to see any dealer do that on a 2010 Prius at this time, but who knows. If his price was $22,571 out the door, that is a great deal. Regardless of whether 'jon5506' paid the Toyota destination charge, it is certain that it was paid by the dealer to Toyota, as they will be billed for it. It is ultimately up to the dealer and the buyer to agree who pays what.
The destination is on every car. Has been since the invention of the monroney label. Be careful John5506, some dealer do what we used to call "freighting". That is quoting the price OTD, but adding in destination later.
