+1 on nix to the pin stripes. If anything, I would have placed them slightly below the character line.
Three arrived at Hayward Toyota today -- 2 Red, 1 Silver. I was able to "try one on" today during my son's baseball practice. At 6' 8", I fit in it albeit one without a solar roof and no one other than the child able to sit behind me.
Picked mine up today =) It is a white 2. Color looks great. There were 2-3 waiting pickup. The guys at the dealership said mine was the first sold in northern cal. Not at 10 posts so no pictures. Later on I will install a after market navigation system. The Kenwood that iron dentist was looking at looks good, but I will go with 7140 I believe because of the price difference.
BTW anybody purchase the extended warranty? There is a thread on fatwallet where you can get it for 1/2 price. From previous owners do you think it is worth it?
It isn't worth it. The only major problem on the 2Gs were the Multi-Function Display failures. A remanufactured one installed, costs about $600 at the dealer, which is still less than the cost of the extended warranty. I picked my Barcelona Red exterior / Bisque interior model V w/navigation from Antioch Toyota today. Seems like all the dealers delivering today are telling their customers that they are the first to receive their 2010 Prius' in Northern California. I'm sure that we all are firsts. I haven't taken pictures yet, but I will post some tomorrow. I think Antioch Toyota has a white 2010 Prius; not sure with model, but I think it is already sold as well.
Did you pick Misty Gray over Bisque or is that just the way it worked out? I'm trying to decide on Misty Gray or Bisque.
I picked mine up at 3:00PM yesterday (Thursday). See my thread "Bay Area first?" for purchase details.
I stopped by a local dealer early this morning and they had a Black III (1225) with Nav but have added on so many options that the price is close to a V with ATP !! Base price with Nav and options $25619 Leather $2999 Gold Emblems $1495 Privacy Glass $995 Total with added options $31108 Ouch
From a dealership perspective, that's their way of adding a higher profit margin to the car. I mean, we all know those things don't really cost that much to add. But, hey - been there done that. It's easier to deal with those sorts of things on cars than where I worked previously with their "market adjustment $x,xxx" stickers. We have waited a few years for this incarnation of Prius. It's a shame that the cost of the car vs. the window sticker is such a small margin. We are already all struggling to make ends meet and are ground to a pulp on so much of the other product, this car was hoped to be the holy grail to help a lot of Toyota stores get back into the black in a big way and stop struggling. But -- it also clearly shows how Toyota's making sure they make money on the cars. They wanted to keep the pricing in the current mainstream for the market. And, they wanted to stay in the black on these cars so they could move forward to other technology enhancements. The higher end of the tech options they are already using for the Lexus line anyway... it's not anything that was freshly developed for the Prius other than the solar electronics end of things. The fact that the car's invoice is both a good sign and a bad sign. Good that they are making certain they make some money on this product, but kinda sucks for dealerships who sell at MSRP with no additions. Especially if they do not get a lot of cars. Di
Wow... those are a TON of markups. Gold emblems probably cost < $100 to get plated (that's probably high), a $100-$200 tint job, and well under $2000 for the leather addiiton.
Rick, hey there! The gold these days is pricy - remember... it's UP there now. Might be 23K gold and that's more like $300 now. Tint for all back n' side windows $350-400 for a GOOD job that won't turn purple, and truthfully, maybe $900 for the leather. It's still a lots of extra cash to negotiate down. I bet they keep most of it from the folks who stroll and and either don't know any better, or don't care. My last delivery of the day yesterday was to a client in Torrance with my package IV in gray with sunroof... and I took the 405 south at about 5:30 .... popped open the sunroof and played with the audio while in traffic (I think that's why they decided on the number 405 for the freeway. Because by 4 or 5, you can only drive that fast - 4 o' 5 miles per hour!) Anyway, the audio system and speakers are way better. And, as cool a car this is with sunroof open and its different look to it, most folks did not even give me a 2nd glance. It looks just enough like the old one. It sure doesn't feel like the old one though!! I love the ride... love it!
I just stopped by another dealer in my area and they received their shipment mast night. They had a nice Blizzard Pearl 5 with ATP that he offered to sell me on the spot.
All I can say is that I picked mine up at 3:00 PM of the day they received it. One week sounds silly, maybe they want to keep it on the lot a few days to generate interest? Hopefully they aren't giving out test drives in your car.
My dealer got it at 10 and it was ready by noon. Yet another reason we drove to Sunnyvale from Sac. to buy it.
