different take on vanity plates

Hal seems peculiarly inappropriate for the Prius. The most environmentally friendly production car ever put on the market, named after a computer that's a pathological murderer???

 

I ordered my Silver #9 today. So excited!!
I have named my gestating baby, 'Chimera' (also my user name in this forum). In mythology: a she-monster made up of mutiple types of animals. In biology (my preferred definition): it represents the creation of an organism that has geneticly different origins (ie. a plant with bacterial genes), in this case my chimeric creature is a fusion, creating a gas/electric car.

 

Ours is named Yolanda in honor of my beloved and recently deceased mother in-law whose name was not Yolanda.
I miss my mother in-law.

 

I just placed an order for my vanity license plate. (This after I vowed I would never get another vanity plate again.)

I named my car before I ever even placed an order. My current vehicle, a saucy red Volvo, is named Martha, after the previous owner, a friend who loved her car dearly but was coerced into trading up by her husband. My 04 is in transit, a white package 7, and its name will be Hedwig - you can decide whether you prefer the white-owl/white-car Harry Potter reasoning or the is-it-a-girl-is-it-a-boy/is-it-a-gas-is-it-an-electric Hedwig and the Angry Inch reasoning. Either way, I think it works. (Before I knew what colour it would be, though, I was going for the latter.)

 

I call my Prius '02 Redhead. We've parted now. Now I have an 04. But I remember the redhead

 

I'm think about naming my Prius.
Since it is a Driftwood, which is sort of gold, there is:
Heart of Gold
Goldfinger
Goldilocks (because it is just right)

Also working on the hybrid angle:
Centaur
Chiron (a specific Centaur)
Griffon
Hippogriff
Were-car
Owlbear

Also, thinking about either the word for lightnig/electricity in an obscure language, or the god of lightning in obscure pantheon.

Seeing how we all seem to be 'hooked' on the Prius, it is very fitting! I NEED A PRIUS FIX NOW! (waiting since Nov.) At least the key ring got me off for a while....

 

I'm still trying to come up with a name. I have names for my current cars: Suzuki Swift is named Blue Peter (or Shift) and the Peugeot 206 is named Black Monster.

I usually come up with a name for the car after a few weeks driving it. But that's a loooooong way away.

EDIT:

Since it's a black prius, my GF suggested Preto Prius. (Preto meaning black).

 

I'd like to maybe use 'FRIUS' as in free us from foreign oil.....Don't know if anyone would make the connection though.

 

I'm seriously thinking about a WA vanity plate saying:

VLTZWGN

It's already been done in CA, but I do love the pun.

Speaking of "Hal". I named my fiances Lexus ES300 "Hallie." After all she does have a girls voice! I plan on calling mine Pria since I always say Preye us, maybe this way I will remember it is Pree us.
