I've been looking at all the 2010 photos I can find, but I'm not seeing much of the Sandy Beach metallic. Has anybody gotten one of these yet? Looking at gold RAV4's just isn't the same. I think this color would look really sharp with the dark sunroof, but I'm hesitant about the interior color. I've not known anyone with a lighter color interior like that. Are there any concerns with bisque, such as upkeep or dirt?
Here's a couple of different photo collections from the Prius Connection previews: Photo Sharing by MyPhotoAlbum.com :: MyPhotoAlbum :: 2010 prius~ Picasa Web Albums - Greg - Prius Connect... You're right though, not too many real world photos yet. I should have my car in the next few days, and you'll then have more photos than you could possibly want!
I don't have a photo, but I saw the sandy beach color on one of the 2010's at a promo event about a month ago. Looking at the brochure color, I would have never guessed that I would actually like the way it looked in person. That said I am going for the Blue one but the Sandy Beach looked pretty sharp in person.
Clearly, Sandy Beach is the least desired color in PriusChat discussions. I too would like to see it in person. I like light to medium metallic colors but I've never been a fan of Gold, which Sandy Beach pretty much is. Light metallic colors don't show much dirt or minor scratches and therefore age well. For those who have seen it, would you agree that it is a gold rather than a "sand" color? As far as the interior, since I am a "car slob", I would think that leather in bisque would be fine but I would be a little hesitant about the bisque in cloth. Roy
I can't wait!! Please post lots of pics! :hail: For most of those pics the outside looks great in that light, other times it's different. I've seen mostly grey interiors though on other cars. If I track down an '09 with bisque interior will it be the same coloring?
It's definitely the most chameleon of the metallic paints. Can go from bright gold to dull tan, depending on the light and angle. Would like it better if it stayed bright gold, like in my avatar. It's still much better than the Gen II Driftwood or the Desert Sand on some other toyotas. I would have gone blizzard, but I already have one white car and just couldn't stomach the thought of 2. I wasn't thrilled with color choices for either my HyCam or this car.
Yes. "Sandy Beach" is more golden than its Gen II predecessor "Driftwood Pearl". There is enough gold in Sandy Beach that I would consider it gold, and I was surprised that Toyota chose the name Sandy Beach. Personally, I would never have gotten the Gen II Prius in Driftwood Pearl -- I don't like the color on its own nor does it look good on the Prius. But IMO, Sandy Beach looks good both on its own and on the Prius (although it's my least favorite of the available colors). Even if you were not a car snob, the Bisque cloth interior would be hard to keep up. I think Bisque leather would easier (but still harder than the gray interiors because the carpet and doors would still be Bisque).
Our 2010 Prius IV is sandy beach metallic. The interior is leather/bisque with black accents. My wife loves the color. Yes, it is more gold looking then tan. A good number of people who have asked us questions about the Prius said it looks great.
It's a very bold color gold. Here it is on a Highlander... it's very brownish gold where the driftwood was a taupe-grayish softer sort of gold color. Dianne
I saw the color on several cars at the Toyota dealer. It's not bad, but personally I find it too light and bland -- and kind of dated. I think the "sandy beach" name is fairly accurate.
Oh isn't that funny. Totally to each their own. I find it too bold and too gold! But, then, that's jus' me! I own a 2007 silverpine with tan leather... and my previous Prius is tideland pearl (the old green/gray) .. I miss that color!
Sandy Beach really needs to have tinted windows and larger smoked wheels to look good. Chrome/ brushed aluminum look doesn't all that great together but darken the car up a bit and it's a good looking and pollished color.
