Since my PIII is Winter Gray, I've been noticing other medium gray colored Toyotas. I'm a bit concerned. Because, quite frankly, they look boring and uninspiring. I hope the G3 Winter Gray is different. For those of you that have seen one in person, can you comment on the color?
Although slightly different, it's essentially the same as my Magnetic Gray. I think it's a great color.
I'm torn between Winter Gray and Blizzard Pearl. I think the deciding factor will be what shows up first. I had a similar shade of dark gray on an RX7 umpty umpty years ago and I loved it. Not as serious as black, but very elegant.
One factor I consider when choosing a car color is whether I've had the color before. Because I have a Magnetic Gray now and never had a Blizzard Pearl or similar pearlized white before, I chose Blizzard Pearl when I pre-ordered the 2010. (But I've since decided not to buy a new car, and canceled the order.)
Our new 2010 is winter gray with dark gray interior. It looks real sharp, kind of a stealth gray. nice!! Alfon
I think I'll probably end up with a Winter Gray. I've ruled out silver and black, but can't decide between the others. I'm worried that blue and red will show up the dirt too much (my car is not garaged). So it's down to white and grey. I thought the pics of the grey Prius V looked stunning at the Toyota Neighbourhood event. Especially with the misty grey interior. But like others I'm shocked by how good the blizzard pearl looks too. I think this may end up being THE colour for the 2010.
Funny you should say that.....the new dark grey will be called "Stealth" here in Australia. The White Pearl is a great colour, but the downside is repairing it if the car is in an accident. A small ding will involve repainting half the car to get it matched properly.
Welcome back sleeka. Thanks for this info. I didn't know this about the pearlized colors. But considering this and other factors (including the facts that Blizzard Pearl costs $220 USD more, and it looks a lot dirtier than plain whites when they get dirty), I'd still give Blizzard Pearl a go.
My plan is also to get a winter gray with a dark gray interior. I have a sliver car now and its a bit of a pain to keep clean. the Pearl is cool, but I'm not a white car type person.
I'm getting a winter gray with misty gray interior. Like Wooski, I really liked how it looked at the Toyota Neighborhood event!
Winter Gray was one of the choices that allowed light gray interior. I was a huge fan of the Magnetic Gray in the Gen II, and was somewhat disappointed that the Winter Grey appeared so muted in comparison. It doesn't have the luster or pop of Blue Ribbon or Blizzard Pearl.
I can't find the originally posted Neighbourhood pics but: This is the video (with lots of coverage of the Winter Grey): These are a few grey pics I have collected:
I love the look of the dark greys -- however, one thing to keep in mind: "stealth" can be a safety issue. I had a dark grey Mitsibushi Galant. I was hit from the rear while standing at a traffic light by someone who just didn't see me! (Luckily, I wasn't injured, but it cause over $3K worth of damage on a 6-month old car.) On several other occasions, cars would veer over into my lane or back up, nearly hitting me. Apparently, they just didn't see me. The grey blends with the tarmac. I couldn't see my hood!
My father was a Fleet Engineer before he retired and used to do massive amounts of mileage each year visiting all the depots he was responsible for. He always had white cars because he thought they were far more visable in low light and so safer. Makes alot of sense.
