Just bought an 07 and it only has one key fob (black logo on back). I guess this means that it is a non-SKS type. It must be inserted into the dash to work.

I see from another thread a recommendation for buying a replacement from RemoteHub on e-bay. Does anyone have an ph # or website for these guys? I can't find them on e-bay or Yahoo search.

Does anyone have any experience with Remotz4less for an 07 using the black logo key fob?

Does anyone have any experience with Originalkeyless.com for an 07 using the black logo key fob?

Based on reading other threads I can't decide if I should take a chance on an E-bay replacement or bite the bullet and pay the dealer $300?

My dealer won't program a key that I bring in, so programming is the big issue. Does anyone know if it is possible to program without dealer equipment? I found some directions on the web that talk about turning the car on several times very quickly, followed by opening and closing the drivers door several times very quickly. Does this sound realistic?

Any and all help with be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Long discussion of this at http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...lly-how-program-non-sks-key-fob-detailed.html

Summary: Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't.

My take is that you need two fully functional keyfobs, and it is useful to have an extra emergency use keyfob that may not have remote function. So take a chance and get a used keyfob. If it works, you just saved some money. If the remote function cannot be programmed, then you'll have to give a dealer the big bucks. The keyfob in the dash function can usually be programmed successfully.

Thanks Rob. Don't know how I missed the detailed instructions thread.

I do have one funtioning fob, but I want to have a back-up (my wife and I have been known to lose things on occassion)

I wonder if Toyota left the programming process the same for 06 and 07?

    Any insights?

    Thanks again.

Perhaps someone else has additional info to share?

Programing is unchanged across all years of Gen II. As long as the fob is working it will work. Don't give up if it doesn't work the first time, it took me a few goes.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these two companies:
    1. Remotz4less or
    2. Originalkeyless.com
for an 07 (or any year for that matter) using the black logo key fob?

It would be great to know if anyone has been successful (or not) with fobs from either of these guys.

    Thanks to all.

Just get one on ebay, I did, it worked. Takes a few tries, don't give up too easy.
Check the little red light works to ensure the battery is good. If the battery is flat there is a thread about changing it. You can do so much using information from PC.

I'm down to one key fob (black). Want to use this remaining one to program a new one by using the steps described in the previous thread (inserting new fob, opening/closing driver's door, etc.) Can you confirm that this procedure worked for you? Is there a risk that this procedure could screw up the programming of my one good fob?

About two hours ago I was able to program a non-sks key fob (Black Logo) from Remotez4less.com for my 2007 Prius. Strongly recommend anyone attempting this read all of the following at least twice before starting. Timing and sequence are critical.

Programming to use the fob for starting the car was much easier than programming for the door locks, but I was able to do both. I may know why I had problems with the door locks. Following are the directions that worked for me both for "Starting" and for "Door Locks".

Following are directions to program the fob for STARTING the car (only confirmed for Black Logo fob for non-smartkey operation, which means that you have to put the fob in the slot on the dash).

    1. Insert old fob into slot and remove it 4 times in a row, then insert it a fifth time and leave it in.

    2. Open and close driver door 6 times.

    3. Remove old fob from slot. Car is in fob programming mode at this point.

    4. Insert new fob and leave in the slot for a full minute. Watch the blinking red anti-theft light on the dashboard. When it stops flashing and goes dark, your new fob is all set.

    5. Remove the new fob and you're done. You should test both fobs to be sure they work properly.

Now on to the tough one (Door Locks):

Following are Directions that worked for me for programming for DOOR LOCKS (it was only when I followed steps 1-4 that I was able to get the car in programming mode for the Door Locks; Steps 1-11 are for "putting the vehicle in programming mode" and you use your old (working fob) for those steps. New fob is not used until step 12):

    1. Sitting in car with all doors locked I manually unlocked the driver side door (do not open door until step 3).

    2. Put Original/Old fob (the one that works) in ignition slot (do not push start)

    3. Open driver door

    4. Remove fob from slot

    5. Insert and remove the fob from the ignition switch twice within 5 seconds (door is still open).

    6. Within 40 seconds: Close and open driver's door twice.

    7. Insert and remove the fob from the ignition slot (let beep twice before removing).

    8. Within 40 seconds: Close and open driver's door twice.

    9. Insert the fob into the ignition slot and close the driver's door.

    10. Push Power button 3 times (Do NOT depress brake pedal)

    11. Remove fob from ignition slot.
NOTE: System should now lock and unlock vehicle once, twice or five times to confirm that the system is in "Programming Mode". If locks do not cycle (lock/unlock) at least once, you need to start over.

    12. Within 40 seconds, Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the NEW fob for 2 seconds.

    13. Within 3 seconds: Press remote transmitter LOCK button.
NOTE: System should now lock and unlock vehicle once to confirm registration:
    A. If it does, just sit tight for 40 seconds, or open the driver door.
    B. If it does not, try pressing and holding the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously for approx 1 second and then pressing the Lock Button within 2 seconds. You have roughly 40 seconds to re-try this final step by holding the two buttons for different amounts of time, as long as you were successful at getting the system into Programming Mode (locks cycled at end of step 11).

My experience was that the most time sensitive part of the process was the amount of time I that held the Lock and Unlock buttons down. When I held the two buttons down for 2 seconds it did not program; However when I immediately tried holding the two buttons down for 1 second (or less) it worked fine and the locks cycled when I pushed the lock button.

To exit programming mode, open driver's door.

There are some good directions at the following:
    forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=36249&postid+441745
You need to add "http://" to the beginning of the above. Prius Chat wouldn't let me post the whole line due to my limited posts.
Just pretend that the key shown in the pictures is the fob for the Prius.

Genvibe is having server problems at the moment, but it seems as though the programming is the same for a Pont Vibe (aka Toyota Matrix). Coincidentally, I was also just programmed a new fob for my Vibe and when I compared with the Prius directions for the Door Locks I found them to be almost identical. Not much of a surprise since the Vibe is really a Matrix in disguise. It was these directions that mentioned steps 2 and 3 above, which seemed to make all the difference for programming the locks (at least for me). Prior to following those steps I was unable to get the system into Programming Mode despite numerous (at least 15) attempts and despite the fact that the fob programmed for starting the car on the first try.

Advice is to be patient and read the directions several times before even starting. Also, if you don't get the lock cycling at the end of step 11 you should restart, but be sure the reset the system before restarting. Reset is done by starting the car and then stoping it and then removing the fob before starting with step 1 again.

    Anyway, good luck to all.

I don't know if there is a risk for the good fob. I doubt it, but anythings possible. If you follow the directions you should be OK, but if you make a mistake anywhere along the line I would abort and follow the reset procedure immediately. Start/stop the car and then go back to step 1.

Make sure you mark the original fob, there is no risk.

I bought a new FOB from OEM remotes for an Australian Prius, used the instructions for programming the FOB using the car's FOB slot. It worked for starting the car but it did not work for the remote open/close door function after trying many many times. I think there is an incompatibility between the American FOB key and the Australian Prius. Does anybody know what the differences are.

HA! I've been messing around for a few hours just got my fob from Remotez4less (bought on ebay) to work for door unlock (05 prius not sks, black fob logo). A few comments that might be helpful:
    1. As with others, the car start function programmed right away but I had lots of trouble with the remote door locks.
    2. Scott121 post above most useful, I tried his 'first' steps 1-4 after start/restart the car (different than the instructions found elsewhere) but not sure that was what finally made the difference.
    3. Scott121 post said door locks will cycle 1x 2x or 5x to indicate ready to program, I was always getting 1x (lock and unlock) but maybe that others think that's 2x? ANYWAYS one lock / unlock cycle at this point was OK (I was thinking I didn't get two and that was a problem, it was not).
    4. Again per Scott121, the two second hold of both buttons didn't work for me but shorter finally did. KEEP TRYING. At this point I really didn't think it would ever work and I was pretty surprised to hear the final lock/unlock - OMG did it really just work?? YES!!!
    4. Don't know about the used fob and 128x use issue. The EBAY ad I purchased the fob from said 'new with uncut key' but the key was cut so obviously the fob was used (I emailed Remotezforless today and will be interested to see what they say about this). Anyways, it appears a used fob worked for me - who knows how many times its been used?

Sure beats the last time when I lost BOTH fobs, ended up towing the 400 miles back home home to a dealer (REALLY fun putting the car on the trailer since you can't put it in neutral without the fob - had to remove one front tire and slide up the trailer ramp on a floor jack), then dealer got about $800 as I recall for 'reprogramming the computer' and two new fobs. See 'myth' notes about this issue elsewhere.

YIPPEE - I think I'll get another one or two fobs and keep them handy!

A quick question for those that know. Can a black logo fob be programed to unlock the doors and start the car if it is inserted in the slot on the dash of an SKS car? Of course it wouldn't work the sks function.

I have 2005 SKS prius. I bought Non SKS (black Logo) key from Ebay. I was able to program it to start the car Fairly easily.

4 attempts so far to make lock unlock buttons have failed. I will try a few times and let you know again.

At least with key cut from Home depot I now have a working key combination which can open and start the car.
