Does anyone here at PC have a sniffer? I would like to work out some code for the Prius touch screen on the 06 and above.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Cheap! @ Sep 25 2007, 07:26 PM) </div> Try here. I was thinking of trying to build the sniffer listed on that site, but i haven't had much time in the last several months. If anyone has plans and documentation on a PIC based sniffer I'd like to take a look. -momanz
with first software release of canview it was possible to sniff avclan. the infos regarding prius on the above post came this way.
So I did finally get a reply from qdis, copied below. I will continue the conversation with them. from qdis: Sorry for late reply and thank you for the e-mail. My name is Max in charge of overseas sale in QDIS Co., Ltd. We have the product which can use for Prius, some of our customers are using the product for Prius already. But I did not know details about it, because In Korea, not much Prius, we did not have a chance to test. Regarding reselling in U.S - Acually, we have several customers in U.S already but if you would like, you can also be our reseller or you can buy the sample from our customers in U.S Best regards, Max. I saw a reference to cost somewhere, but now I forgot where, and I think it was relatively cheap. (<$200). I've sent them a follow-up email.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(emailcurt @ Oct 14 2007, 09:51 AM) </div> Hmm. Well that perks my ears up... I'd still like to see more details of exactly what kinds of inputs it has. Thanks for following up on this!
wow, this qdis is sounding very encouraging! thanks for keeping us updated emailcurt. I emailed around awhile back looking for a solution - something to integrate vga/dvi and to capture touchscreen input. Was thinking the ipod integration people might have something in the works, through the av system rather than the nav system. Anyway, I contacted vaistech, dice electronics, and coastal. Both vaistech and dice saw had thought about it, but didnt have anything available yet (time horizon seemed to be 1-2 years). Coastal didnt bother with a reply.
Hi arbitrage Hope all is well. We have a new unit plug and play mod for the Prius with Nav. The unit has 3 video inputs 2 audio inputs and 1 audio output. That unit is $400. We also have a unit with VGA input which is $450 so you can add a PC. Sorry nothing for $200. Feel free to call us at 718-763-7367 or email us at if you are interested. Thanks Dominic www.TVandNav2Go.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(arbitrage @ Oct 15 2007, 11:46 PM) </div>
So, I got an email from qdis, and actually the product dominic sells is the qdis product. Argh! A big dead-end. However, it's encouraging that there is now a plug and play adapter. dominic could you please provide the group a little more detail? specifically: -what is the format of the audio and video inputs (RCA?) -how does switching work (if I understand qdis site properly there is a remote control)? -so for users with nav you basically turn on nav and then use the remote to switch between nav and other inputs? -does it also switch / override the nav audio? -can you detail the plug format that the new adapter is? exactly how it connects in and out? -can you provide photos and installation instructions -at what resolution does it output? -do you know if the dropped pixel problem is gone? -any unit with two VGA inputs? -any solution idea for non-nav users? I think if you can provide the above you'll have a much better chance of selling some units. Thanks, Curt As a follow-up to my other post but more directed to all: Sorry for getting your hopes up on the price, I had seen that price reference but it might have been for a different model as QDIS has several models. Although, the price is still cheaper than buying another LCD and certainly easier to install, reversible, and leaves a clear dash. I would consider one of these. However, I would want to figure out a way to get touchscreen input into the canview. Anyone know how to do this? I believe there are two approaches: -create a small electronics gizmo that converts 05+ touchscreen signals into 04- touchscreen signals so the canview wouldn't know the difference -document exactly what the 05+ does and maybe norm would make appropriate modifications The third approach is that actually no one I know is certain the 05+ format is any different. Has anyone tried it? It may in fact work. I must also say that from a PHEV perspective there is an effective alternative to all this now: -the new scangauge is programmable to show whatever you want (granted it's not as graphical and flexible as the canview) -the new calcars PHEV control board that Chris Ewert is working on will not require the canview for operation
looks like someone found an alternative route... using the connection the backup camera uses. http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-modifications/15943-what-s-jack.html
i dont know bout the others in this thread, but i was looking for a more elegant solution. This "anytime camera view" has been up for around awhile (another user - darelldd - has instructions on his website: Prius Of course, the low cost helps...
LCD Modules receive their data either in parallel digital RGB or serialized digital RGB in LVDS or TMDS formats. They do not use GVIF. A desktop monitor will not have a GVIF in it. -- sorry, I design this stuff for a living. Steve
Has anyone tried this product? gsmserver.com/shop/car/gvif_interface_for_land_rover_lexus_ver_5_1_gf08tw.php (I'm not allowed to post links yet Copy/paste the URL) According to the product page it talks GVIF to the car and accepts composite video (CVBS) analog RGB, LCD input (for example from your CarPC) and it also has a GVIF input to enable you to piggyback on the current connections. It also has a CAN bus input but according to the manual this only works for Landrover. If the button presses on the steering wheel are sent over the CAN bus it shouldn't be too hard for them to include Prius/Toyota/Lexus support for switching modes through CAN? At this shop it's priced at $290 which isn't cheap but much much better than the $1500 prices I've seen so far.
