Test Drove a 2010 at 4PM today in Oregon! Just to follow up from my earlier post... Dennis at Wilsonville Toyota in Oregon gave me a call to let me know their 2010 Prius IV was available to test drive around 4PM today. What a GREAT car. I tried the "power" mode and was blown away at the pick-up and spunk this car had! No going back to even considering a 2009. I'm really hoping my color/model/options are available soon, I can't wait!!! Go Oregon!
Monday or Tuesday? It'll be interesting to see if it's smoke ... mirrors ... or real. Just a couple more days, and we'll see. btw if I may tangent, how do you people survive w/ 2 buck chuck besting $40 - $50 bottles?!? from wikipedia At the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition, Shaw's 2002 Shiraz received the double gold medal, besting the roughly 2,300 other wines in the competition.[3] Shaw's 2005 California chardonnay was judged Best Chardonnay from California at the Commercial Wine Competition of the 2007 California Exposition and State Fair. The chardonnay received 98 points, a double gold, with accolades of Best of California and Best of Class.[4] I love Shiraz,
We rep two buck chuck It only goes into Trader Joes. Honestly, it is just that, worth 2 bucks. Its like buying a ford or buying a prius. Ford is good for some but Prius is a "GIVEN" for others. If you like Shiraz, try Penfolds or Rosemount. Both have shiraz for roughly $10. For a solid winery always under $10 is the Columbia Crest 2 vines wines which have cab, chard, merlot, riesling etc out of Washington. That winery and the Chateau St Michelle portfolio is great and scores higher than any other winery in the world.Step out of your comfort zone and try Septima Malbec from Argentina, FATASTIC for under $10. Sorry guys :focus:

Re: Test Drove a 2010 at 4PM today in Oregon! All these Oregon dealers are winners. Too bad dealers 150 miles to the north can't get any cars. But that's what I would expect. By any measure -- Oregon vs. Washington -- no contest; Oregon wins every time.
Just test drove the car at Gladstone. Very impressed with it and intend on getting one for sure. The Grey one was sold and I drove the Gold IV model. Very temped to pull the trigger on that one and be the first on the block but not sure about that color/package and they are tacking on a questionable $895 "VIP package" that had things with it I didn't want with it (door guards, nitrogen filled tire etc.). Not sure if other dealers are using this strategy or if they can be had at true MSRP without the extra nonsense from other dealers. Also didn't ask if this dealer is willing to sell a one on order without it. Other than that Scott in Internet sales was great and I will see if they are really stubborn about that VIP package.
they are tacking on a questionable $895 "VIP package" that had things with it I didn't want with it (door guards, nitrogen filled tire etc.). Sounds like Oregon (Gladstone) is playing the game. I'd find another dealer and let them sit on these for a while.
Here we go...no wonder they haven't pre-sold their first allocation! Even given the current economic situation, if a dealer that has cars coming in as part of their first few allocations, that haven't been spoken for by a waiting list, there's got to be more to it than meets the eye (like a "VIP" package).
I would have to say that it would amaze me if the same people that didn't want to "waste" money on a IV when they wanted a III ends up maying over MSRP for an option package that has and adds little value.
Here is a email from my friend the dealer in Gladstone. One available plus tickets to the Toyota Prius show. If you want to go to the show in Portland, email Jon and give him your name and email address: Julie; I have the Sandy Beach #4 still here. Let people know if you would like. Also I have 15 tickets to an event Toyota is putting on in Portland. I was wondering if you wanted one of the slots. I would sign you up. Also if you know anyone else that would like to go let me know. It is an event like we go to as sales people that goed over the whole car and let you test out other thing that they have available. Its June 16-17 Let me know. Sincerely,Jon StolzInternet DirectorToyota Scion of Gladstone503.655.7100 [email protected]
Honestly, I contacted many dealers previously to the release from Oregon, Washington and California. Being in sales, I am proactive and do my own legwork. NONE of the dealers who have called me from Oregon and Washington in the last 24 hours with cars have mentioned anything higher than msrp(except for mats). Be informed. You DO NOT have to pay more than msrp. The only thing they added on was car mats at $200 at the port (above msrp). I think that is standard. Jabber, is that correct? I am ok with that. 1PM tomorrow, Sunday Everyone will get their car. Do your homework, be informed. The dealers are good overall , trying to pay their bills and feed their family just like us,just a few out to see if you are not so smart. Prove them otherwise.
Thanks Julie for the info about the markups. I'll have to check it out with them. I really wanted to think out what options I wanted before I got into it about the markup. I'll call Jon (I'lll tell him you sent me ) about getting rid of the "VIP package" and see about that event in June as well, that is something I would really like to attend. I'm leaning towards going all out with the Prius V with the tech pack. I think they may be in short supply though. Really a nice car, it's been a while since I have been that impressed on a test drive. Looking forward to owning one.
I guess strickly speaking if a dealer adds a dealer insatlled option I personally consider it as part of the "sticker" and part of the MSRP. My credit union would loan on that if it's included in the deal. Basically same as an option like floor mats or the door sill protection. Problem I see is if this option package is an $800 wax job, scotch guard, undercoating, all of which I could do for $50 and then they throw in a tangable item like floor mats I get suspicious. It just looks like dealer markup. When I see a package that includes "nitrogem filled tires" I automatically suspect I'm going to be gouged.
VIP package; floor mats for $200.....sorry. I would take the loaded advanced technology V car with no added dealer BS and then add what I wanted at fair prices.
