Figured I would share my my tinting experience with PriusChat.

A couple weeks ago I took my car in to get tinted. They ended up using a new tint called llumar based tint. Supposevely it was just recently patented. It is suppose to last a long time and not fade over time like most tint does. They did one heck of a job and it only cost me 189 bucks. This is good considering I have a lifetime guarantee on my tint. If it cracks or forms bubbles, they will replace it for free. They've been in the business for over 20 years. I was their first customer that brought in a Prius to get tinted. They told me that they will be charging well over 200 bucks next time they tint another Prius. I guess they had a hard time doing the little windows that exist in the Prius. It was funny to hear them rave about the Prius!

Overall I am extremely happy. In Ohio it is legal to have tint that is 20% on the rear window and back door windows. The front and passenger side windows must have 50% or higher to be legal. I ended up doing 20% on the back and 35% all around. It looks great!. If someone were to walk up from the back of the car, it's fairly easy to see in the car (for a cop). If a person were to walk from the front to the rear, it's pretty hard to see inside the car.

I'll attach a few pictures to show you the different angles.

    Enjoy,

    BitShifter,

a new tint called llumar based tint.

Llumar brand has several tint products, None of them are ceramic. Any idea which product you got? Two of the products have only a 3 year warranty. Llumar, FormulaOne and Gila tints are manufactured by CPFilms.

Looks very nice. I am considering doing the same for my black baby. Have you notice any difference with the comfort level inside the car with the tint as compared to without, particularly while driving? Are you using the AC less?

Mine would be the Llumar tint line. I just checked www.mrtint.com and their link took me to the Lumar tint line. Is that brand suppose to have a high life expectancy? I guess it really doesn't concern me since mr. tint has been in the business for 20+ years, and the car has a lifetime warrenty on pealing and fading.

    Hi catsbox,

I haven't noticed any difference in driving. If anything it may be harder to drive in the dark while it's raining. My tint is 35% around the main windows so it's not too bad to see out. If you were to get 20% I would say driving in the rain at night would be hard. Just from previous experiences. It really hasn't been warm enough for me to use the AC yet. Although they do state you will use your AC less.

I've had my Prius for about 5 weeks now. I had FormulaOne Ultimate 38 and 18 ($200) put on my black car the second week I had it. In Tucson, it is already quite hot, and I can tell you it does make a huge difference in comfort. The A/C will be a necessity till October now anyway, but the film does make it much more comfortable. It looks really cool now too. 8)

In window tint, legal thing is main concern. Mostly we used 20% for window tint. Recently i have also use window tint for my car from . The quality is very good and clear.
