I recently saw on someone's post, pictures of the Japanese version of the 2010 Prius. It included a Head's Up Display, which shows the speed you are driving, along with other useful information. I want to know if this would be an option in the United States?

Nope. Standard in Europe, optional in Japan and not available in North America.

HUD is not included in the US. Check out the Earth Day Chat where Prius Team talked about HUD availability in the US.

Not available in the U.S., 'possibility'of it perhaps in future years, and it is available in the US but you have to get the new Lexus RX...

Maybe it'll be similar to the Lexus RX's? Here's a link for the Lexus Heads Up Display...

I for one REALLY like it and considering what I am already paying to get a Prius V with AT I would have liked to have the heads up display as part of Advanced Tech as well.

I agree. I can see this as the next step up from the MFD (for certain key data).

Looks good! I'd like to see that on the US models as well. I know we don't have it to keep costs down, but it looks cool. I wonder if it will wash out in bright sunlight?

    HUD is pretty cool...like it!

Separate question...noticed on the pic it looks like the 2010 has no B-Brake option...did they delete this from the 2010? I have never used it myself but just wondering if it is gone for the new model.

HUD is a well-established technology. Matter of fact it was standard in our 1994 Nissan Altima GLE. It was a very cool feature. Intensity could be adjusted (automatic when headlights are on) and position of the image (due to various driver heights). It could also be turned off altogether. If I recall it contained the digital speedo, turn signals, and idiot lights.

I can see this being a very interesting feature in the AT package sometime in the future.
Especially with speed and the Touch Tracer images.

Yeas, this is definitely coming. Unfortunately I think it's just something they are planning to add to the 2011 or 2012 model to make those attractive for new car purchasers to not save on last year's model. Oh well.

only appears on the display when you're in [D], because you can only shift into when in [D]. That's what the 2G does.

From the look of the display, it looks like a small subset of what the speedo cluster looks like. I'd be doubtful that the current iteration includes anything else.
