It appears that Longo Toyota of Los Angeles has a transition strategy in place. They have 25 Prius for sale on their web site. They usually have anywhere from 50-100 combined of the 4 pkgs available in So. Cal., (base,2,5,& 6). They have a generally good rep. and do not sell for over MSRP I've heard Strangely ALL the cars are some hybrid "base" pkg. with MSRP of 24K. Longo is the largest dealer in So. Cal. so most probably has a large amount of 2010s inbound. They are a nation wide chain owned by Roger Penske. Wondering if all there stores have same strategy. Just an observation. Carl
I don't quite understand the comment or question. Are you saying they are showing '09s on the web at $24k?
2010 Buying News & Warranty Strategy. Just read that the West Coast states of California and Oregon (*and some East Coast) get an outrageously better warranty. Their states get 15year/150,000mile hybrid parts warranty. I even got it confirmed in writing on a factory dealer sales sheet. My state Nevada can't even touch it, let alone sell anything like it, and its "FREE"! I am going to do another drop ship or no CA tax drive away.
Re: 2010 Buying News & Warranty Strategy. Err.. that's for States that comply with the California emissions that get the longer hybrid warranty. I'm sure it only applies if you're a resident and register the vehicle in those states. The current Prius has the same warranty setup.
The warranty works on where the vehicle is primarily operated, not where it was purchased. I bought both of my vehicles in CA, however since they've been primarily operated in AZ (not a CA emissions state) for the past 4+ years, the clause in the CA warranty would be excluded.
Have you been given that in writing on the 2010. I have been told both ways. If so, do you have a link. By the way who did you use for your 2010. Costco has a discount program which I am working with right now to get a lower price. Thanks for the info. I know some guys go to Oregon buy it there, and register and tag it there for the tax and insurance. Most are semi-retired.
I think we've established beyond any doubt that your sources of information are unreliable. Rick is completely correct. You can't buy a car in Cali and take it to Missouri and keep the CARB stat warranty.
I just talked to Longo of LA and they have a 100 2010's pre-sold, so I was told. The sales rep said it was a 3-month wait, so I called elsewhere on the Costco Auto Purchase Program price. I have about 4-dealers getting back on the price.
I am coming to find out dealer sales managers are not the well spring of knowledge. When they want a sale, some guys will tell you a load of bull and when they don't want to discount, they will let the bull fly to the next dealer.. Moo, step over the cow shit at Fletcher Jones & Toyota in LA!
Typical dealer BS. " It is a 3 month wait but i am sure we can get you one sooner if you pay for $2000 over sticker"
