As a prius owner with HOV stickers, I was shocked to see a blue camry hybrid with the HOV stickers on the 405 N near 22/605 (he went north on 605). I immediatly pulled up next to him and honked my horn telling him his car doesnt qualify for those stickers. He smirked saying the DMV made a mistake. I regret not taking down his license plate number and reporting him. To think of all the other Prius drivers that didnt get stickers (more efficient than the camry) because of people/situations like this.
I don't thing DMV could make a mistake because the VIN number will identify what kind of vehicle, I think he has a fake HOV sticker.
When the carpool stickers were first being issued I saw a HiHy with a set, near Dana Point. It is certainly possible the stickers were fake. Don't worry, the CHP will eventually nab the driver if s/he is driving solo in a carpool lane.
I believe that as long as you have the sticker on the car, you can solo in the HOV lane. It would be up to the CHiPper to figure out that a HIHY does not qualify!!! Neither does the HYCAM
How could they make that mistake? I mean anyone knows only silver Camry hybids should get the stickers!!
It's a fake. Every once in awhile you will see them sold on eBay, not that I was looking of course!!!
As a reasonable driver I was shocked to see a green Prius zooming by me at a high rate of speed (probably, at least 2 miles above the speed limit) I immediately pulled up next to him and honked my horn telling him that both, his car and mother Earth, are being abused by his irresponsible and anti-social behavior. He smirked and pulled away. I regret not taking down his license plate number and reporting him. I also believe my holly attitude qualifies me for being a cop:cheer2:
