I don't know why this is, but lately when I open PriusChat.com it's wider than my screen, and I have to scroll over. Only the homepage has this problem. I have a 1024x768 LCD, so I can't change resolutions. (Danny, can you fix?) Nate
Well, I'm having the same problem and I've tried different resolutions. Primarily, though, I use 1280x1024. Another weird thing is happening for me. After I log in, click "View posts since last visit", and then click a thread, the page fully loads, blanks out, and then loads again. Anyone else notice this behavior? FWIW, I'm using the latest version of FF (1.0.3).
hmm. no problems here. check your computes font sizes. if it's et to larger.. then everything enlarges. this would explain the larger pages.
My IE6 also has an oversized main page (not this one). On most cases of this behavior, it turns out there is an oversized bitmap, or a mis-sized table that forces it wide. Can't see one on the page, though...
I have the same problem using Mozilla 1.03. It's even worse for me 'cos my primary computer is a Tablet PC, so my screen resolution when browsing is 768 x 1024. Some posts end up being two screen-widths wide.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(tag\";p=\"85478)</div> Tag, did you install the temporary fix firefox extension to work around the blank pages a few weeks back? You need to uninstall that now that the original problem is fixed. Otherwise you'll get the page loading twice scenario... Tools -> Extensions -> (highlight the priuschat fix) -> Uninstall -> Restart firefox
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(KTPhil\";p=\"85486)</div> :iagree I also believe the problem with wide screen manifests itself with an oversized bitmap, a mis-sized table . . . or an extra long link string. Running FF 1.0.3 (with no temp Extension fix . . . which would/should have disabled itself automatically with the new update. Extensions not conforming to new updates will automatically disable themselves until the program’s dev can update it. FF should then inform you when an updated Extension is available with an icon in a tool bar. After installing a new FF update, try a manual update of Extensions . . . the more proactive devs will be on the case with an updated extension. This system saves FF from crashing due to outdated extensions . . . smart people rock!)
Homepage as in the http://www.priuschat.com/forums/portal.php page? Check it now and see if it still does it. I still need to fix the header where the links for FAQ, Search, etc are listed because I think 1) it's ugly and 2) it's screwing up some sizing of pages sometimes. I was messing with the templates one day and made that change and never have changed it to the way I want it. This doesn't have to do with your question, nate, but it made me think of it. I run 1600x1200 here at work and widescreen at home, so I never notice these things.
Nope, still a problem. Goes away once I log in, where the advertisment banner (which I noticed is a macromedia flash) is disabled. Danny, are you toying with the same installation we are using? Seems like your changes don't take effect for us.
Oh, it was the length of one of the links to a news article. I should look for a fix that will change the length of the link like it does over on www.HiHyChat.com .
