Found the right price for a 2009 touring package 6, dealership just sold the only magnetic gray one they had just got in on Saturday. He said if I put down a deposit of $500, he can get me another just like it in 2-3 days. Question is, if for some reason this deal fell through, would I lose out on my $500 deposit? Have never done this before. Thanks
You need to ask that question of the dealer. Some deposits are non-refundable and some are. It varies between dealers.
more than likely the deposit is refundable. i would have asked before i put down a deposit. did you find a better deal at another dealer?
If you don't mind me asking, what price did you get quoted for the car only? I am going back to sit in a package 6 to see if the seats are anymore comfortable than the package 5 and if so will be looking to possibly get a touring #6 or just the regular #6. I do like the rims on the touring though.
I prefer leather since it is easier to keep clean. But, it brutal if you live in a cold climate since they are not heated. I went with the touring since it has a stiffer suspension, bigger wheels, and a larger spoiler. Also the price difference isn't that much more when you get into the higher packages. They do have a pkg 5 touring, just depends if they sell it in your region.
I asked before putting anything down. I wanted magnetic gray, so the dealer you gave me had to find one to bring in, so they needed the deposit. 2009 prius touring pkg 6 with floor and cargo mats for $25,067 incl destination. Going in this weekend to hopefully complete the deal.
As others have suggested ask the dealer. My guess is that if he can not deliver the car in a reasonable time he would refund the money, but there could be an issue if you wanted to back out - especially after he went to the trouble of getting the car for you. You may also want to be clear about time - the dealer may be willing to let 2-3 days stretch to 2-3 weeks while you may not be so flexible.
Dealers just making sure your committed to buying the car before they go through the trouble of getting it.... I know sometimes if transportation is involved it could be non-refundable ...
hey, i posted this in another section, but thought it makes sense to put here, I was wondering what people would do in this situation. I just put a deposit down last week for a 2009 pkg 2 for $22.5 K, and now I read the press release for 2010. I'm planning to stop by the dealership at the end of the week to finalize the deal. I'm wondering, what can I do? What are my options? Should I get out of the deal, try to just use the desposit for a 2010, request a further deduction in price? No way I am going want to pay 22.5K for 2009 pkg 2 while I can wait until the 2010 comes out and get a 2010 pkg2 for ~$23K with more features/performance. Thanks!
I'm sure you could, then you could be one of the first on the list to get a 2010. Just understand that the 2010 for the next year are going to be very limited in supply so getting an actual 2010 at the 20k price is going to be hard. Try getting a new Insight at the 20k price it just isnt going to happen atleast not in my area anyway. I know when I worked for VW they advertised the Rabbit at like 14900 and they only shipped 15 of those car in our market area. The rest had rims, body kits and other BS.
