A Prius IV with Nav for 27,600. My 2005 Prius package 6 with Nav 26,800. Besides the MPG and driving improvement the equipment amenities are much better. Good job Toyota on the pricing.

Yes, let me personally add that this pricing is phenomenal. A lot of people won't fully appreciate it until they actually sit in the 2010 Prius and drive it.

It's a great car at a fantastic price.

Some people are going to be happy with the packages, some not. I for one feel like Toyota sat down with me and asked what my priorities are for a base or II package.

    Answer
    1. Safety. Kudos, kudos, kudos for including VSC and knee airbags to the current config.
    2. SKS
    3. Bluetooth

2/3 is amazing. I'm not buying this time around, but I give two thumbs up to the pricing. I feel a bit sorry for the Honda Insight marketing people.

actually its screen, camera NAV... the rest is part of pkg 3.

it is hard to justify especially since Nav is such a popular thing these days. most who had an interest in getting it already has it. tough to justify the money when i would only have use for the backup camera.

I don't know Dave, the way I'm looking at it there are a couple things added...I'll highlight. Perhaps this is something Doug can clear up in the chat tomorrow.

    Prius III MSRP: $23,000
In addition to Prius II features:
► JBL AM/FM/MP3 six-disc CD changer with eight speakers
    ► Integrated satellite radio capability
    ► Hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth® wireless
    technology

Navigation Package MSRP: $1,800 Available on Prius III, IV, V
    Voice-actived touch-screen
    DVD navigation system with
    JBL AM/FM/MP3 four-disc CD
    changer, eight speakers, integrated
    satellite radio capability, XM
    NavTraffic capability, hands-free
    phone capability and music
    streaming via Bluetooth wireless
    technology and integrated backup
    camera

So, I see the XM NavTraffic (which I guess you can argue is part of the NAV), and the Streaming BT wireless...which I don't see in the Package III. Plus the NAV, Screen, and B/U camera.

But yea, any way you look at it that's a pricy NAV system. It would be easier to swallow if they promised a free upgrade DVD every 2 years for the first 8 years or something.

I will take a Prius II and stuff in what stereo and nav I want (if any) later. Red please!

I was expecting cheaper or same as least year as I had posted. Glad it came true!

Extremely Disappointed by Pricing and Option Packaging

Extremely disappointed. Not so much by pricing, but by the combination of pricing and the option packaging.

Basically what I want in terms of options is what's on the 2009 Prius Package 2, which retails for $23,550, plus a stand alone moonroof (which aftermarket or if stand alone as an option would be around $1000), for a total price of $24,550.

But now with the pricing and option packaging for the 2010, I would have to spend $29,400 (Prius IV + Solar Roof). Granted, for the additional $4850, I would get a lot more in terms of options (solar panel, navigation, leather, etc.), but it's all stuff that I do not necessarily want or would not otherwise buy.

The pricing is pretty good, but I cant get one the way I want it a package V with the solar roof. You would think that they would have those things together but no. Well I cant afford a car yet anyway.

It's nice but also very disappointing. Why is it so hard to provide a package with the solar roof package AND LED lights?

I'll have to hold off until I see what the HS packages look like or wait for the plug-ins. If I'm paying $30K+ for a car, I might as well see what my other options are. No rush.

hey, was wondering what people would do in this situation.

I just put a deposit down last week for a 2009 pkg 2 for $22.5 K, and now I read the press release. I'm planning to stop by the dealership at the end of the week to finalize the deal.

I'm wondering, what can I get out of this deal or maybe further negotiate. No way I am going want to pay 22.5K for 2009 pkg 2 while I can wait until the 2010 comes out and get a 2010 pkg2 for ~$23K with more features/performance.

    Thanks!

Re: Extremely Disappointed by Pricing and Option Packaging

I have similar complaints. All manufacturers do it but Toyota is particularly bad about taking a couple features that many people want and spreading them across several packages.

Of course the concept of packaging is not to make things convenient for the buyer. Packages serve two purposes:

    1. They simplify manufacturing and distribution
    2. They force people to buy options they don't want to get those that they do.

I'm sure the dealer will be happy to upgrade you to the 2010 on your order. For the difference in price, of course.

    This is amazing pricing.

The Prius I is really a mystery. The equipment listed for Prius II isn't stated as being "in addition to Prius I", so it's anybody's guess how much of that stuff is not included on the Prius I.

What isn't listed there is the price premium for the Blizzard Pearl (3 coat) color.
